DaveK
That was until I drove one. A friends 993. My BPU Supra would have had it in a straight line, but the 993 was a superior drive in every other way - going from the comparatively "loose" steering of the Supra, the pointy steering and tight handling on the 993 felt like a different world. I've never driven any other car which felt like it would just do exactly what you wanted it to do. That sums up very well how my 964 feels. I've never driven a 996 - and although I have been tempted by them as a daily car - I've always suspected they would not have the same feel that 993s / 964s and older 911s do. 996 / 997s are aimed at a different market (hence the reason there are so many of them around) and I always think of them as a bit more GT and a bit less sports car than the older ones. The 964s / 993 really do make you feel you're directly connected to the road - I wonder if the 996s do?

I have read this thread before but can't be arsed going back through it to find out..... The prices of 996's are dropping fast. I have been looking at these for a few weeks ad every week there seems to be a better bargain..... H.
chris2o2
im sure you could buy one easily just about working hard, yea i was going to buy an M3 bmw but i thought they are too common and they have come down in price, plus they dont hold there value Im sure we all could but its only a car and not the most important thing in the world , im not working 24/7 so i have a car that i can try and make people jealous with . Looking forward to seeing the pictures though....

Jake
same exact porcshe as this http://www.myprojectcars.com/images/996_gt3_kit_239.jpg Hardly "exactly the same", is it. http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3119/6965521xm1.jpg http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/2724/6965522uz1.th.jpg http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/8418/6965523oz4.th.jpg I'm really not a fan of the cabriolet shape. Totally spoils the lines, IMO. That interior must take some living with too.

Jake
You've the done the right thing Jazz, the m3 isn't your sort of car at all.
jazz1
your right, besides when il part exchange this for an upgrade at least il get some decent money back as they would not even part exchange an m3 at a showroom

ozz
I'm thinking of getting an e46 M3, but that does look very nice and I'm wondering if the porsche wouldn't be a better buy. I can't spend more than 20k though so I'm guessing that wouldnt get me much of a porsche? Can't stand the boxter.
