The Raven
Still burning. I have an axe to grind with eurotunnel as i used to work for them. However i can confirm that people where put in place to stop this event happening if it turns out to be a over heated brake problem. The fact is that it would have been missed by three different people. This is IMO because of eurotunnels cost cutting 2 years ago when staff with 10 years experance where let leave and replaced with agency workers to save money. As they say "wouldnt have happened on my watch"

The Raven
Hmm not sure i can im seeing if there is a link somewhere. Some needs to be accountable for this, how on earth it was allowed to happen again is behond me. The messures in place should never have allowed it unless, as i said the standard of the people doing these jobs has fallen. It really pains me to see it as it was my job on a day in day out basis to make sure these trains and the lorries on them where safe.
Seb
They're saying this was started by a chemical fire which is why it's still burning.
Scoboblio
That's what I heard too.... that a lorry carrying chemicals somehow 'fell over' and caught fire. What's that got to do with overheating brakes? Not being nasty, just interested.

Second a heat source must have been from somewhere. Reports where saying overheated brakes. This get better now, so if the lorry was carrying dangerous goods it should have been double checked before getting anywhere near the trains by people trained to do so, then loaded according to risk. Your not allowed to carry certain things on the tunnel system. It possible the fire moved to a lorry containing flamables which is why its taking so long to put out, however to say it started from there is hard to beleve, I have not been watching today so i will be sure to pick holes in the story as soon as the final "story" comes out.
