Stalker - Clear Sky (the game)

Gameplay seem to list it as in stock, and their 2nd most popular PC game (at time of posting). No idea what happens if you actually try to order mind, I'm still working through the original.

Thanks mate, the sites all seem to offer it for sale, but none appear to list when it's actually released.

It was released in Russian on the 5th, but cannot find any date for the English version so far. Hows that for for bad release info from the publisher that supposed to promote the game!

The English release is ready it appears (I've downloaded the Russian version and patched it to English, but it's very buggy even with the patch so didn't bother playing past a few minutes)

Hmm, it's certainly in the current sellers list over here, rather than the pre-order section, so figured it was actually released. No idea then, sorry!

More bugs though, eh? The original was bad enough, last time I tried to play I got annoyed within 30 minutes because I kept getting stuck 15' in the air when trying to jump between 2 buildings. It seems to be inline with some fence which looks about 6' high, but seemingly has some clipping extend higher than that. I have to wiggle, crouch, and/or jump to get free and fall to earth. Bah.

I loved the original. Especially as it played much faster on my Linux machine than on my Windows PC.

It took me ages to get through. I'm one of those that MUST explore every nook and cranny, climb to the top of any building etc etc.

I hope I can get Clear Sky running under WINE.

Ordered limited polish edition, Jola is picking it up today at her local book/games store :D First one (Shadow of Chernobyl) was brilliant, I'm just going through it again and doing all small jobs for anyone who need something done ;)

How you made Stalker to run on Linux? What distribution you use? I did try to set up Cedega but no joy :( I'm running Ubuntu on my computer.

The toys you get with polish limited edition (looks better then small metal box eh?)

i have it, had it delivered friday, amazon have it in stock £17.99. runs like a pig tho. my system is not slow, running an amd4800+, 4gig ddr and an 8800ultra xfx and with everything set to max and @1920x1200 the frame rate is a little choppy, if i turn down the setting a little and the res i can get it running ok. every game developer is different i guess, i run crysis @1920x1200 wiv setting at high no AA and it runs spot on. im thinking of building a really powerful pc before long.

Stalker was never heading for being best graphic game around. It's based on scenario and superb surrounding climate (Zone). Did you try to patch Shadow of Chernobyl? There is 1.006 patch released, I'm running game without bigger probs on worse configuration then yours. I found out tho, that this game needs a LOT of RAM memory to not choke during loading some of the locations at background.

i can run stalker shadow of chernobyl @80fps wiv everything maxed and set @1920x1200, if i turn down the res it runs in the 100-150fps. its just this new stalker seems to be a bit of a pig, seems like its not optimized. ive stopped playing at the moment as i want to play it running perfectly, this new stalker has alot more graphics in it than the first tho, more detailed surroundings.

Just had a go with WineHQ and Stalker SoC is working under linux :D Finally I will not have to switch between systems just to play game :)

Ubuntu here too. I use Wine and PlayonLinux. PoL has a specific script for running SoC with the full patch. SoC had some odd graphical bugs under Linux but I found a script that cured them.

TBH it never looked as good as it did running on a Windows system but I can live with that.
