Read the site, Barryboys members don't drive the Saxos and Corsas on the site - they take pictures and laugh at them.

In fact, we take pictures and laugh at any car that has been modified badly (even if it's a fast car) and that does tend to include a lot of 'Show' Supras. Standard Supras are lovely (I had a MkIII) and a few mods here and there don't hurt but complaining because we're questioning the sensibility of having holes cut in the bonnet, pointing out the odd panel gap and having a giggle at the umbrella (which is funny and doesn't make the owner an idiot) is a bit silly!

For the record, I like orange.

In some ways I kind of agree with you on the Saxos etc front but what I find a bit odd is that someone would get out of bed early on a weekend, drive down to a local car show knowing that there is going to be loads of cars that they don't like or have any interest in, to then take pictures so that they can upload them too a website with lots off other people and poke fun at them. I can't help think its a bit like train spotting. Is that were you lot come from when you get board with that?

It's train spotting but without having an interest in trains basically.

The gen 5 celica looks quite clean I thought, and not Barry like at all due to being std...

Matt, don't worry about it, if it bother's you that much stick up the dyno on their site.

Reaction is what these guys are after, and you're just feeding the fire mate.

I appreciate you've spent a lot of money on getting your car that way, but it's all down to personal taste (I actually like your car for a show car, wouldn't want it to be a daily driver but that's not why you've done it I imagine), unfortunately you've entered a thread with some very hideous cars but now it's mainly being focussed at you because of your reactions to it (the pink skyline owner is probably very happy with you;))

Walk away from that site and don't worry what people think, something like your car is going to get mixed reviews, so roll with it....:)

This is very true, if you want to draw attention to yourself then you have to accept the negative comments as well. Even in my stock supra I've had "Nescafe" and little finger gestures from people at the side of the road. If that sort of thing upset me, I wouldn't drive round in a big shiny sports car.

Personally I haven't been to a car show so I can't speak from experience however I do believe most - if not all - members have a good interest in cars and so attend car shows to see the nice ones. We don't get physically upset when we see Barried cars so it's not as if they ruin our day but it doesn't mean we can't enjoy looking at the nice cars at the show. I might even go so far as to suggest some Barryboys members may even participate in shows.

Besides I'd go to a Barry show if one came up nearby. Just because I think they're silly and don't want to own one doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing Barry cars!

Hope that cleared things up a bit but every member is different and I'm just speaking my own opinion.

No, it's fox hunting where we're not allowed to kill the fox...

Sounds like the automotive equivalent of the Ramblers Association.

Why do those people on that site go to these shows? Am I missing something about the barryboys? To me it is just a bunch of penis envy sado's, a few times I agree with them on the stuff they slate.

To used a worn argument, I've never ever made a film, be it a mobile phone YouTube clip or a multi-million dollar blockbuster, I've never even been inside a film studio or on a set, yet I still know a good film from a bad one, I can still express a reasoned argument why a film is bad, in my opinion, which may differ from other peoples.

Well I will be man enough to retract my statement. As never really looked at it the way that Rob wrote above.
