Mapping 95 Ron fuel

Hi there! I am considering "upgrading" my subaru to a mkiv supra but have a few questions. My budget is some place around the £15000 mark and i want a manual car with a nice bodykit (nothing to bling just enough to look mean!) Problem i have is that i live all the way up in Orkney so i have no access to 97+ ron fuels only 95! Right now i run my impreza on ocatne boosters and have had the car mapped to suit. For my budget most of the cars are big single turbo cars with big outputs, could they be mapped to cope on 95 + octane boost? Any advice welcome

Cheers

Pretty sure there wouldn't be a problem mapping to 95, you can map a car to any fuel as far as i know. The car would be restrained though.

Why would it effect spool?

As I understand it's related to ignition timing, an adapted ignition timing map combined with higher octane rating allows a more thermally efficient burn and thus creates more power throughout the range. Provided octane rating is consistent of course!

Engine torque equals spool. More force from the gases exiting the exhaust outlet equals improved spool, at any rev range before the wastegate opens.

At least that’s how I understand things, but am an absolute amateur when it comes to this!

UK Supras to run 95Ron from the factory. JDM cars are were designed to run Japanese fuel which is 100Ron if I remember correctly. A good after market ECU will enable you to run 95 Ron. One of our cars runs a Power FC, it is very easy with the commander unit to knock off timing to run 95, which we have had to do when V power is not available.

mine is a jspec and i run it on vpower because eveyone here says to do so. Where all the jspec cars supposed to run on 100octane or did the importers do something when they came of the boat to make them run on 97? If they did nothing does that mean my engine is permanently pulling timing to compensate?
