JohnK
Ive read other posts on the subject of CW downpipes but most seem to be concerning J spec cars. Im thinking about getting the front cat pipe replaced, cant be bothered with swapping in and out every MOT (been there done that ) and what I really want to know is how much difference will it make to a UK car? Does it raise the boost? UK cars dont suffer creep? Can I expect a noticable rather than a preciveable gain? Ill call the man himself as soon as the weekend is over, just want some info to be getting on with.
Chris Wilson
No boost creep problems with the UK turbos, in 90% of J-spec engines none there either, and the fix is simple. Removing the first cat will certainly make a noticable difference but you REALYY should remove BOTH cats. To refit the second cat is a 15 minute job tops. With both removed the engine is a different beast.
Keith C
Agree with that - when I stuck my no.2 cat back in, even on the very short drive to the MoT station it felt like someone had removed my turbos, ugh ugh ugh.
Ian C
15 minute job if you've got a ramp, that is - took me about an hour, blasted thing, plus I was wriggling about under the car with a severely sunburnt back. Not pleasant. Engine sounded great afterwards as I forgot to re-tighten the bolts after removing the scissors jack from the centre section, so it blew like a V8. Where's my restrictor plate? -Ian
