ex manifold gasket... differences and are toyota taking the mick?

Hi All

Bought a cast maifold to be fitted soon, and popped into toyota to get an exhaust gasket for the 2jz.

The gasket that is on there now is a one piece unit that consists of many metal plates overlaid, like many wafers all held together on the ends. The trouble with re-using this gasket is that it's hard to get the lower manifold bolts tight, and with any dirt contamination between the layers it will not seal.. so I am reluctant to re-use it.

The trouble is that a stock gasket (2 piece) is going to be £50 from toyota which tbh I think is taking the piss!

The cast manifold should be easier to tighten due to the easier access...

pics of the old gasket, any advice welcome, I need a perfect seal...

are there preffered gasket types,

and is this a normal price for a gasket???

Ha Ha.. ok... I'm just being tight!

I don't mind paying for the right bit of kit if it is technologically engineered... I just had visions of it being a cheap bit of pressed steel like the T4 gaskets.

I will get one on order, thanks for the info as always :)
