Since i bought my supe the electric aeriel does not go down or up :(

You can still hear the motor running when you turn the radio on/off,so i guess its not the motor.

Any ideas anyone:)

PS its stuck in the up position at the moment a bit like viagra i cant get it down:d

Think there's a belt actually driving the thing up and down. Heard of them snapping. :)

Worn out teeth? (There's a plastic runner thing inside.) I think you can get replacement internals.

Mine has similar symptoms to yours at the moment, however, if I give it a bit of a helping hand it usually retracts or erects. There are likely to be a fair few people who've done the stubby transplant who have their old units available.

ive done this about a year ago and now its started palying up again so i am looking for a stubby, the biggest pain in the bum cheeks with this was getting the teeth on the wee thing that makes the mast go up and down

i think mine might just need a clean out, i think on sunday (if i can be bothered) i might do a how to replace then mast thread with pics. unless someone has done it before? anyone know?

That's right: a toothed nylon belt drives the mast up and down. Mr T sells a replacement mast that comes with the belt, at a reasonable price. You don't need to buy a new electric motor: they are £££.

To fit the new mast+belt, remove the interior trim of the boot so you can get to and remove the motor. Open the motor up and removed any bits of the old belt that are knocking around in there before fitting the new one.

My car is in the bodyshop and I de-aerialed mine as well so I need an alternative. I was thinking of a sharkfin aerial or something but an internal seems like a nice idea if it works! How well does the a-pillar one work and where did you get that from? How much?

I dont often use the radio either but want to retain that alternative

Cheers

Paul

Recently removed mine will sell for £10 + p&p the mast is bent at the top but the motor is top notch all you need to do is swap masts and bolt in. :)
