bolarbag
What is the best most reliable pump for WI? I'm be running some methanol too, dont want to buy an aquamist kit as I'll be using the motec to control the injection, I've heard various reports that they fail aswell Adequate size jets for around 600hp? I remember seeing a company from the states that produced a reliable water/meth pump, alkali or something, can't find it
AshBhp
The new AEM. http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=

Wez
Isnt it a Surflo pump like the new Aquamist setup
bolarbag
http://www.alkycontrol.com/ Alky! Mis-spelt it, thers a fair few of them up here;) This was recommended on SF a while back, also noticed UKRich is using an aquamist 2C system controlled via his motec, I'll pm him see if its still running good How has folks aem pumps held up? Wez
Why are you going to use the MOTEC to control it? Are you going to be mapping it in, ie more boost, ignition and less fuel, if so will you also have the motec setup to detect a WI system issue, ie pump failure, blocked jet or filter etc. Just asking as most people simply use it for a little added safety, a simple pressure switch which turns it on at approx 1bar is normally enough, the cars are then mapped with the WI disabled so that if there is an issue you dont blow the motor. FYI I run a Aquamist 1s activated at 1bar with 50/50 water/meth.
bolarbag
a WI system issue, ie pump failure, blocked jet or filter etc. More flexibility of when the water injection comes on and off, and more conditions, as well as seperate maps I can set up the pump detection failure, and pressure sensor, dont expect the jets to become blocked,
bolarbag
FYI I run a Aquamist 1s activated at 1bar with 50/50 water/meth Have you ever recorded intake temps before the mix is added and after How many jets do you have what size and where are they positioned? Wez
Have you ever recorded intake temps before the mix is added and after Nope, I rarely download logs from my ECU, I can check when I am next out if you like. How many jets do you have what size and where are they positioned? I have a single .7mm infront of the throttle at the moment, I have a couple more jets and a small manifold so that I can try different sizing and location. Just havent got round to it yet. bolarbag
Yeah would be interesting to see how much of an affect it has on intake temps if any I'll have an intercooler spray and a couple of jets, pre intercooler, one after
uk-rich
you don't want one pre intercooler, the mist will condense on all the fins and turn into a puddle in your fmic
bolarbag
Rules that out then:d How is your aquamist holding up, still going strong?
uk-rich
absolutly no probs at all, i have the motec contol the injection via the high speed valve als have the DDS3 to monitor the flow, not like i'd dare to look down at the gauge when on the peddle
Milton79
http://www.aquamist.co.uk aquamist is a good system and their pumps can be used with methanol. i havent heard of "high failure rates on them". my mate has used aquamist on his cosworth engines for the past 8 years. he uses 100% meth on a seperate container and he has moved the kit through several applications (different cosworths) in the past 8 odd years. the only thing he has changed in that time is the in-line filter and a relay (the realy got water soaked and rusted over time) recently he also purchased a new loom that comes with the dash lights to show you details of the system in use, armed, low water/meth levels. otherwise very reliable IMO
Tricky-Ricky
My Aquamist setup has been on two different cars over five years with no problems, waits for immanent failure:blink:
Wez
Mine has been fine for a few years. The older type pumps use to suffer with water ingress but as far as I am aware the issues were resolved long ago.
