Guest blueangel
Ok guys my dad has been a sign writer for over 20 years now and is planning to stop using the glass fibre side of the buisiness now. He has been making cut out vinyl signs for the last 10 years but he see's this as the way forward in vehicle advertising. What i was thinking is do you think there would be a viable market for guys like yourselves. The benefits would include flawless graphic's and a protective covering over the entire surface of the cars paintwork that would last for years. Tell me what you think guys:)
SteveR
Can he do this? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=158772
Wez
I like this idea, what would the cost be for a complete graphics/wrap package on a MKIV?
SteveR
Thinking out loud, I may have had a brilliant idea; a wrap(ing service?) for cars about to do track days and worried about stone chips/gravel trap damage. Front & bonnet only or sides as well. Doesn't need to be perfect as you'd be pulling it off at the end of the day anyway.

scooby_doo_do
If you need a car to use as a demo, you more than welcome to pimp mine ;-) http://tripkings.co.uk/ultima/large/0015.jpg
Guest blueangel
If it all takes off and we start this up then i might be able to organise a group buy in the future, and yes a colour change would be no problem at all guys so also a clear would be available
Guest blueangel
prices so far look like they range from £650-£850 solid plain colour or clear to £1500+ for graphic's including photo's and just about anything you want really.

SteveR
How about a cheap & cheapful trackday protection?
jacko
Just checking, because its bloody hard, tried it a few times. Im not trying to p*ss on your parade mate, just think you might need a bit of practice before you start really advertising it And for cheap and cheerful track day protection, you're probably best just getting some clear vinyl and popping it on yourself, if it doesnt matter too much how it looks
marc_p
You can do mine for free as the trial run

Guest blueangel
Just checking, because its bloody hard, tried it a few times. Im not trying to p*ss on your parade mate, just think you might need a bit of practice before you start really advertising it completely understand fella but this isn't an advertistment just a feeler for wether it will have more applications than just advertising for companies. Im trying to get as much feedback as possible as this is something my dad and i are really looking at moving into, really need to see if people would fork out to have it done. The printer needed to make the wraps costs in excess of £40,000 so finding out what other applications i could use this for could be quite valuble really. Jake
This is not a new thing. My mate on the IoW has been doing vinyl wraps for 10+ years. Also, (but I can't be arsed to search for it ATM) another guy on mtorque.co.uk had his M3 wrapped very smartly in touring car style GFX for, IIRC, £700 earlier this year. One thing to consider though, I don't think you'd be be able the get a scratch or stonechip polished out or touched up like you can with paint. If it gets damaged at all I should think the whole panel would need redoing.
Guest blueangel
but on that score its alot easierto revinyl a panel than it is to respray so there are benefits straight away
