Alarm problems

Any ideas on this would be appreciated guys / girls!

My friend has a Peugeot 406 coupe (very nice car btw!) but has a problem with the alarm sounding intermittently. It only happens when the car has been stationary for at least 6 hours, and doesn't sound constantly, maybe a few times a night (more than enough to be annoying though!!!).

He's had the battery checked and apparantly it's okay so it's not the volt drop sensor being confused by a knackered battery. You can also rock / walk past the car without it going off, so it doesn't seem to be the internal or rock sensors (if such things exist  ).

Peugeot couldn't find anything wrong with it, but have tried to tell him that they'll need the car for at least 8 hours to figure it out :complain:

Any ideas / wild theories?

Probably got nothing to do with it but i used to have a RS Escort and the alarm used to go off on that randomly.

When looked into it turned ot to be water getting into the siren from the bonet vent and setting the alarm off.

One of those :limp: talking alarms. Just used to start talking in the middle of the night :swear: :swear: :swear:
