JamieP
Whats the score when measuring wheels? is say a 11" wide wheel measured overall, outside to outside of the rim or is it the measurement from the inside bit that the tyre lips on you go by? Ive heard different things over the years.
supra matt
Outside to outside same as you would measure anything else mate .
michael
http://www.tirereview.com/files/Images/calculator2.jpg As above, edge to edge / outside to outside.
JamieP
If thats the case it makes my wheels 10.5" wide front and 11.5" wide rears. Surprised them fronts fit, on the red car i had 8.5" front, i get no rubbing even on full lock.

SteveR
Nothing, they was on Paul Wiffins car for 7 years with no problems as far as im aware. I don't have anything yet either, but I fitted an auto rad after CW advised it was a quick & easy way of cooling the power steering fluid (use the seperate, meant for the auto gearbox bit, at the bottom of the rad). I should* really get it connected up before Llandow, just in case. I went down there on Sunday to check it out and the bit with several tight corners in close sucession is a lot tighter than it looks on the videos! lol * = but probably won't get round to it. JamieP
If i get a problem ill try that. On a side note your car had the same wheels on it when Jake had it, brought from PW so id expect them the same size.

merckx
or is it the measurement from the inside bit that the tyre lips on you go by? . Correct. The rest of you are wrong. There's an inside lip which is inboard about 0.5" and it's measured from that. So a 9" wheel measures 10" with the tape measure to the outside. The reason I know is that I measured my wheels when I bought them. http://www.streetdreams.org/images/offset.jpg
JamieP
That makes my wheels 9.5" front and 10.5" rear, sounds more like it.
johnd-mkiv
its should tell you on the casting, on the inside of the wheel mate.

merckx
If you don't believe me. That's not the correct way of measuring the width of the rim, you need to measure between the inner flanges. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=140859&highlight=correct+measuring+width+rim%2C+measure+flanges
