Chris Wilson
Wordpad has taken it upon itself to use German for pop up boses, it never used to, all other applications appear normal. Any ideas? Thanks.
michael
Set Folder Options > View to show all files and to show system protected files. Then use search to locate mfc42loc.dll. If found, probably in C:\Windows\System32, rename it to something like "backup-mfc42loc.dll" and then see if the problem still exists. mfc42.dll looks to mfc42loc.dll for locale info I believe, sometimes it gets screwed up by other apps. Exit all your applications before trying this and don't delete mfc42.dll by mistake Out of interest does the same thing happen in MS Paint? (Not all systems have mfc42loc.dll BTW, mine doesn't, I suspect yours does though)
Chris Wilson
You are a genius, renamed it *.old and it's fixed. A Bosch diagnostic app may have changed it, it used another copy of that file in it's own directory, and, of course, it's German... Thanks
