Pete
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article4663899.ece As I mentioned before, I met Chris Foster once as his business ULVA was one of our clients. A very good customer at the time too. We even kitted his house out with stuff. He was a big show off when I met him, going on about buying a Prada mobile phone for his daughters (school girl) birthday when they first came out, his wifes new Mercedes roadster with plate out the front, flashy watch and going on holiday on a private luxury motorboat with his mate. All that in about 5 mins of conversation! Nice enough chap though. Clearly he was obsessed with material wealth, right up to the point where he was going to lose it all he'd rather kill his family and himself. It just seems unbelievable that he'd do such a thing. I can't imagine anything getting so bad to drive you to that.

Dr_Doom
I think there`s more to this than meets the eye. I was thinking the same thing. It could easily be a well covered up operation. The fact he was having massive finacial problems could of sent him over the egde though

Homer
I've been following this on the news with a morbid interest to see what happened, though initial suspicions were sadly true. Utterly selfish and deplorable actions if it does prove true (which considering the early press release seems likely). The mind of someone so self indulged I guess is just so far from us rational folks that we can't comprehend it. It's the daughter I feel the worse for, poor girl never had the chance to live a life. Imagine what must have gone through the girls mind in the moments before being murdered by her own father Jeez.
merckx
Yes, totally selfish behaviour. 15 year old daughter with her whole life infront of her, not to mention family which they must have left behind.
tbourner
Just wasteful. If he was angry then fine, go kill yourself, even your wife if you really feel that way, but the daughter! And why not put the horses and dogs out to field rather than shooting them through the head!!!! Cruel bastard deserves to die.
keancy
I suspected the Bloke straight away too, one of those "If I can't have it nobody will" attitudes. Very sad.
Alex
It's the daughter I feel the worse for, poor girl never had the chance to live a life. Imagine what must have gone through the girls mind Kill me now cause the word "Bullet" is in my head and won't go away... I'm sick and need help, sorry everyone. It is her waste of life that does beggar belief. He must have not wanted the shame of her knowing her Dad had failed her. The rumour is she was shot from behind so never knew it was coming... tbourner
I'd heard she was online chatting to friends at about 01:00, a couple of hours before the fire started, and she suddenly went offline!!
Digsy
I said pretty much the same thing to Sarah last night (i.e. "how on earth can things get so bad financially that you kill your family") and she came out with a rather interesting counter viewpoint: What if the wife and daughter had got so used to living the good life that when faced with financial hardship they put tremendous pressure on the husband to keep them in the manner they were accustomed to? As things went from bad to worse, the bloke would end up feeling pretty worthless and maybe focussed on how difficult and ungrateful his family were being in a difficult time. All speculation of course, but I think I have seen one report that mentioned they were having difficulties in their relationship. And of course its still no justification for what he did. michael
You can only understand these things when you are there yourself, at that point I guess it's too late to start explaining them to others. Even being close is scary enough.
Max Headroom
I read the story and felt great sadness, sadness that it could all of been avoidable. Has all the hallmarks of a man who see's himself of being in control and being above everyone else. Sad that he didn't have the moral courage to say to himself, things are going bad, rather than saying I have a duty to my family to let them know things are not going well, I will bury my head in the sand. The final act was clearly of a man who couldn't relinquish control, committed one final act of selfishness, saying "look I am still in control of my destiny and my family". Many businessmen have gone to the wall and bounced back. Think if every failed business person destroyed their family and home where would we be? Bobbeh
It seems that with some people theres nothing more to life than money.
Mike
It's just 'some bloke who murdered his family'.. it does happen from time to time. If he didn't live in a mansion we'd have labeled him a nutter by now and moved on.

Charlotte
Even being close is scary enough. That's a scary statement! I agree with Mike actually. The money and the way in which he killed everything and burnt down a big mansion is what has kept it in the headlines. There are many sick people in the world. Chris Wilson
Personally I am sick and tired of hearing about it, and it's relatively local to me. There are loads of arson deaths in the city involving "ordinary" people, murders of siblings over unwillingness to enter arranged marriages, blah blah, that merit a few lines in the rags and maybe a brief few seconds on the box. All I want to know is how cheap is this gaff going to be once the `elf `n safety lot finally deem a proper search and retrieval OK, and the receivers or whatever market it...? hoff
My girlfriends brother is a fireman and was called out to the fire. We only live a couple of miles away so its quite a shock this happening more so due to its proximity to us. I was told a few things which have since come out in the news and some which haven't which I expect materialised to nothing. All along it looked messed up to be a professional hit.
