Thorin
Some nice ideas, and based on webkit engine too so should be good... Whether or not it will topple Firefox with all it's addons, I don't know. It's got to be better than IE though Will try later on the Windows box, don't know when the Linux version will be out. Alex
Don't know if Firefox does it this way but just try a Ctrl+F and start typing...really nice operation of the simplest of things
redtwinturbo
I've just installed it and think it looks really good so far, very fast. The only problem i'm having is that the scroll section on the side of the laptop mouse pad has become hyper sensitive so I zoom from the top of any page to the bottom. Does anyone else have this problem/know how to fix it? Cheers

Mike
I'm amazed at how many people still use IE... I haven't used that for years... Firefox is loads quicker.
Bobbeh
I like the multi threaded nature of it. Should make browsing lots of things at once better.

JustGav
Oops http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/09/03/google_chrome_eula_sucks/ Yeah, was just about to post that as well... Sorry that is license is WAY to severe for me even to consider it... Anybody fancy posting up a new way of doing something and giving unlimited irrevocable license to Google...no thanks. 11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. Ian C
I predict less than a year before google search, maps, translate, mail, etc etc become mysteriously crippled/pants/plain broken if not viewed through Chrome and only Chrome. No thanks, I'll stick to Firefox. -Ian
Willson
No Adblock Plus or other extensions, from what I read. Thats quite a big negative in my opinion.

Pot
No Adblock Plus or other extensions, from what I read. Thats quite a big negative in my opinion. Adblock's what makes FuckFaux the browser of choice for me... The other extensions I have customise my 'online experience', really well... But if Google Bronze will soon allow these sort of extensions, then I may be tempted to have a look at it...
OhGod
Oops http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/09/03/google_chrome_eula_sucks/ Looks like they'll be fixing this soon; Clicky. Had a brief look over it, has some nice ideas - process per tab, etc - but not seen anything to pull me from Firefox yet. Given that it's Open Source I do hope to see the JavaScript engine nicked for Firefox given that it's this part that seems to be getting the best performance increase. Alex
Extract from http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/09/04/google_retracts_lousy_chrome_eula_terms/ Google has retracted the objectional sentences in Chrome's EULA so that any content you post via Chrome is yours and yours alone. The ruckus was caused by our old friends, the paralegal firm Cut 'n Paste Inc. Their employment has now been terminated and a new contract arranged with Fink First, Cut 'n Paste who have produced a new section 11 which reads: 11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. There are no qualifying sub-sections at all.
imi
The amendment to their Agreement terms of Chrome are a good start to try restore our confidence in Google Chrome, however there is no denying that their entire business model is based on the information that we post through their various services. Having said all that; tried Chrome on a virtual machines, looks really good. Gutted that they dont have a MAC version. My prediction for the future........... Days of the heavy OS are numbered. All you will need moving forward is an OS to bring your hardware up and then a browser like Chrome to sit on top. All the apps (office, etc, email) you drive through your browser (much like you can do today) but this will be the defacto standard. Even interesting would be if the browser was the OS.....The Browser is your platform BEWARE MICROSOFT.

MS originally wasn't going to have an Office 2007, they thought they could get to that point before now. It's why they're all falling over each other for web services - the one with the most users will do very well indeed. RedM
Just installed Google Chrome for MAC on my MBP. despite being a developer version it seems really fast. Be careful. Certain privacy features are not available in the Mac and Linux dev releases. That's why I'm not running it in Ubuntu. It's bloody quick with Vista though.
