Alex
http://www.google.com/chrome I can't believe there are no threads on this. Today, Google took on M$ at the web browser game. With only a mini leak yesterday, this has come as a shock to the industry.... But for those of you, with your finger on the pulse, what do you think of the beta? Easy to read *comic* written to explain it all... http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/ I'm just installing it now.
Homer
I was reading about this earlier so will be interested to see what it can offer. Didn't realise it was available already, the site I read mentioned it was only available in a few weeks. Downloading now... The only thing that worries me with google is all the stuff they're likely to tuck away in the code.
Pete
Oh no..not on here as well. Honestly, if ever there's been anything hyped to the extreme then it's this. How many record breaking downloads do we expect tomorrow? 5 million billion squillion? Will even the mighty Google be able to cope with the requests? Will it be any good? Will I need to rewrite all my bl**dy websites in yet another 'standard' compliant browser?
Pixelfill
I really like the sound of that! Giving it a try now. Mike
GlennK
Using it right now. Seems a lot quicker and tidier than the MS IE8 beta2 I'm trying...
Alex
Well so far I'm struggling...but THIS IS A BETA. I can't get my favourites to add properly. And there is no status bar at the bottom which is something I like as you know when IE is working...
Pete
I'm impressed. So far it HASN'T forced itself to be the default browser, change my search engine provider OR add any annoying tool bars. (Have I been tainted by the horrors of Windows?)
Homer
It's noticeably quicker than IE and ooo, built in spell checker when replying to posts (Outlook style). Fantastic!! Had a couple of errors already from the forum, but as you say it's a beta. So far, it looks very good.
Pete
Reading the comic (which any average users will be lost by page 2) it seems clear to me that this is a prototype for the browser which will be used on the forthcoming Android. All this memory saving, slim form and reusage of processes fits with a small embedded device.
Alex
Did anyone else's favourites not work? Is it cause mine are NOT in my users my doc location?
Pete
"incognito browsing" AKA Porn Mode
sdavies
I generally don't use IE, but it pillaged everything from my Firefox settings. Fairly quick, and no problems with using some of the more popular JavaScript libraries so far.
Pete
Did anyone else's favourites not work? Is it cause mine are NOT in my users my doc location? None were imported but it does work. I've forced another import - nada. Vista64 and FF3
Pete
I like the debugger console resources tab. A timeline of all the elements on the page on how long they took to load.
Homer
Bookmarks imported fine here, although I was using IE 7.
Pete
Liking the tabbed views when you open a new tab. It IS much faster...and very lightweight download. Hotmail doesn't like it. Just click the continue button and it works fine..
Darren-K
I like chrome it seems stable on my system but is marginaly slower than IE8
Alex
Tried the laptop - Vista again but the favourites are stored in the normal location. All my systems run IE7.0 and are fully up-to-date. I'll try it on XP tomorrow as I can't be arsed to reboot the PC tonight. This time it worked well, HOWEVER...it *forgot* a few inc this site! It's definitely quick though.
MrRalphMan
I like the look of the 'my browser' front page.

Homer
Must admit that I'm really liking Chrome so far It's much faster than IE7 and has some nice features
Pete
it seems clear to me that this is a prototype for the browser which will be used on the forthcoming Android. Oh yes, it's there on Pg12 It's based on the same engine as Apples Safari.
