A New F1 Season Starts.

Class One

Ferrari winning all the time doesn't really bother me - because I think - they as a team; work very hard to make an a good all round package and all credit to them. What bothers me - is the rules in F1.

Bring back slick tyres, fully manual gearboxes, get rid of traction control. AFAIK - the drivers only upshift, the onboard computer system downshifts for them. Make those kind of changes and it will no doubt be alot more exciting to watch.

F1 has become too commerically influenced and more money orientated than before - as result the sport suffers because the fans become uninterested. No, I think I'll just visit the itv F1 website - spend 10 minutes reading it .. rather than 90minutes watching a scalextric procession going on.

I love the way that the teams are starting to get random drivers in to drive, because they can get larger sums of money from sponsors willing to sponsor drivers from their own country, like Austria and India.

Are these new drivers also a part of the new rules, as they can't drive as fast as some of the other drivers??

The tyres for this season are the good thing....they have to last the whole race. This means they are harder and will have to be nursed by the drivers. It also means that off line won't be so dirty and dangerous for map cap overtaking.

That may be so, but will there be any "racing" or will it continue to be a parade for 70 odd laps?

I mean F1 is meant to be the pinnacle of motorsport yet how many on track overtakes are there in a season? and the plans for the future do not bade well for the sport...like 6 cylinders and 2.5 litres???

Wouldn't it be nice to return to slick tyres, ground effect, even turbos?

Ecclestone has really got to get his sh1t together, cos with dwindling sponsorship and tv audiences something has got to give.

We'll find out on Sunday...totally new tyres will change things a bit but it's still 20 similar cars all vying for the smae piece of tarmac.

It doesn't matter how much power they have as long as they can overtake. I hope they stick with V10's but the power produced is just silly. The tracks used have not helped...but all the new ones they are producing have been already producing better action.

Using just one set of tyres might not be such a good thing as Martin Brundle pointed out.

They might be reluctant to try overtaking , if you flat spot a tyre it's very difficult to drive at 180 with so much vibration!

More conservative driving is going to make it even less exciting than it is now.

Sky+ is my friend, and I watched it this morning. Well it was nice to see Michael Schumacher die on his arse, and DC put in a good drive to come in 4th, but otherwise ? Nah, still boring.

The one set of tyres might spice things up at 'say' Monaco, but we'll see.
