Babe
Stopped smoking today; promised Sprog I'd stop by today and I don't break promises (which is why I make very few lol). Anyway, I've got the 15mg patches and it worked fine all morning, but now I'm desperate for a fag. Anyone else used them? Can you use more than one patch a day because it did work all morning, just seems to have run out of steam now, and I've got at least 5 hours before I go to bed! caseys
Good luck and hope you stick with the program I wish they did caffiene patches... I'm not a smoker but a caffiene addict. Just don't do what my friend did who now still smokes 60ish a day and chew through 5-6 packets of chewing gum a day. Sorbitol (the sugar free sweetner in gum) = incredibly potent laxative. Can't imagine how bad it is being jonesing for a smoke and having to sit on the porcelain throne all day.
AlanM
I used everything Babe, to get me off my 40 to 60 a day habit. Patches, chewing gum, inhalator ...... Then I got the Champax tablets - 20 weeks ago or so and it ain't been too bad, had my moments, but not a lot, worth a try. Oh and Alan Carrs book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" is worth a read I have saved about 2000k as well

Guest Budz86
I think so. The thing that will probably help is the inhaler. Feels like you have a fag in your hand yet doesn't kill you! lol. I'm trying to give up at the minute, but having to deal with the insurance company to sort the car doesn't help! Good luck though. Hope you do it! Babe
I just need the nicotine! I'm doing alright with the lack of hand-to-mouth (although I've not been in my car yet, that will be my worst place coz I could never get in the car without sparking up) so don't really want to use an inhaltor as it's just keeping up the habit. Don't drink tea/coffee or anything with caffeine in anyway (that was REALLY hard to give up), and I don't drink alcohol so I have no other vice to turn to (maybe I should get a boyfriend lol). Desperately trying not to stuff my face with food (managed so far) coz I need to lose the 2 stone I've put on in the last year as it is! Aaaggghhh!!! jevansio
Good for you, *lights cigarette up, takes a deep inhalation & blows smoke out with some rings at the end in a satisfying way*, only kidding, stick with it the initial craving will pass before long
Babe
I'm just about ready to commit murder now ... sent the Sprog to bed just in case! Going to the Doctors tomorrow to see if I can have more than one patch a day... maybe I won't put a patch before I see him and he can have the brunt of my foul mood to prove my point . rag
I quit smoking 3 weeks ago without using patches or any other aids. Admittidly I was smoking at JAE but I knew that I wouldn't when I got home and I haven't - has not even crossed my mind. My mum has incurable lung cancer and it is seeing her suffer that has made me stop. I just had it in my head that I was not going to be a smoker anymore and I was able to give up with ease. China Man
I am a pharmacist and a level 2 stop smoking advicer. Never heard of putting 2 patch at once but I do recommand using 2 products in some cases. You can join nrt programs in most chemist and pay 28 pounds for a nhs payment cert which give u access to free prescription for 3 months. Darren-K
Babe - i stopped smoking new years eve 2007,9 months ago. Dont bother with the 15mg patches there too weak., get the other brand they do 21mg patches that you wear for 24 hours and allways put the patches on the upper body i was using patches but when things got realy bad i also had a niccorette inhalator at hand too which takes cartridges,...these cartridges gives you a blast that around 10% of 1 drag of a real fag - so they help a lot. as said,.. 21mg patches and inhalator but follow the step by step guide with the patches carefully - you should be on them a god few months.. i smoked for 27 years. Mrs H
Stick with it It is worth the effort, I stopped just over 10 years ago now (after a little gentle persuasion from H.) I knew if I could do one full week I could stop forever. It's great when you get your sense of smell and taste back:d Vicki x
SUPRALOOPY
If you WANT to give up you will. No patches or any other gimmick will help. I tried all that, then I just decided to stop and that was four years ago. So I must have WANTED to stop for real that time. Its a mental thing I think. Babe
Dont bother with the 15mg patches there too weak... 21mg patches and inhalator The 15mg patch was fine this morning, just it wore off instead of lasting the 16 hours it was supposed to! Don't want to use the inhalator as I want to break the habit as much as I want to stop the smoking. And I'm not smoking any, even one a day, I promised Sprog I'd stop today and I don't break promises. Poor kid has had to stay away for the last few hours to avoid having head bitten off! I reckon two 10mg patches a day might do me. Is that possible? Guess it must be if there's a 21mg patch!

Yep another vote for Dave's comment... cold turkey is the only way to do it. You should read the Alan Carr book.. it's all about how smoking isn't actually addictive and it's all in the mind, as Dave says.
