1) lack of fuel

2) poor intercooler I.e cooling

 

Too much ign retard in the map? Without knowing what temps its hard to say but your ecu should compensate for No.2 in that list, as for No.1 how do you mean lack of fuel? Running lean? Then yes running around 12+ afr under wot should cause your egt's to rise

In no particular order,

1 incorrect fuelling for load point (poor mapping)

2 incorrect ignition timing both too advanced and retarded can cause det, and high EGTs (poor mapping)

3 incorrect cooling both charge and high water temps.

4 bad cam timing.

5 restricted exhaust.

6 wrong octane fuel.

7 too much boost.

 

Thats all i can think of at the moment.

Sorry guys I should have added my sensor is fitted pre turbos.

My car is running BPU, here is a list of my mobs, at 1 point I hit 1000 degrees on my EGT gauge.

J Spec auto TT.

Ful Decat 1 bar restrictor ring.

Walbro fuel pump

Boost controller

FCD

FMIC

Hybrid Turbos 1 bar low boost, 1.2 bar high boost.

Blitz induction kit.

Ported head.

Rebuilt engine with stock internals..

The ECU hasnt been remapped and is still runing stock injectors and stock ECU.

 

I had a suspicion that it was down to the injectors as there only 440's.

You should be OK on std injectors, but only with some form of management and mapping, i am surprised at the high EGTs

as with std map you should be on the rich/cooler side, i never saw 900c with my hybrids, and my sensor was in the first turbo housing.

The hybrids are potentially a huge problem on those injectors at stock fuel pressure.

 

The idea being that they shift more air for a given boost pressure.....so....you need more fuel to go with that. I'd forget comparing to stock turbos. Plus if the head has been gas flowed then the same argument stands, if the headjob was any good, you should be flowing a little more air for a given boost pressure. You need more fuel or at least an idea of if you are not supplying enough.

 

Do you have an AFR gauge?

I would say that 550 injectors will be capable of enough fuelling for pretty much any stock turbo based hybrid setup.

 

You won't need to change the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel rail or any of the lines but you will need a resistor pack and something like and EManage or similar to get the fuelling correct once you fit the larger injectors.
