I too think the lack off Mods at this years event was a let down, but the guys really pulled it together you should be really proud off what you did for the club

As for Damon reaching into his pocket out of order but again very nice off you too do so i think a thread should be started to repay this money asap!!!

I'm confused as to why people are complaining about a lack of mods - did some threads need locking or infraction points need handing out?

Aren't the mods just regular members that help run the forum and as a result get slightly more buttons?

Anyone who was at JAE could have helped out, any member could have offered help before the event and by the sounds of it some "normal" members did exactly that. What was required that only someone with a red or orange name could have done?

It's like when people complain that there are no meets in a specific location or that nobody has done this or that... change that by doing it yourself.

Obviously the finance side of it might be a factor should the club say they will pay for something and then don't but that sounds unlikely - so what's the actual problem?

No mods came to help me cut the grass this weekend, should I complain to them about this?

Well done Daman and team for keeping the show on the road despite the difficulties

Regarding the mods not being there - we're here to run the club, the events guys run the events on behalf of the club. Unfortunately none of the mods (and most of the events guys) couldn't make it this year due to other commitments, but this was known months prior to the event. JAE is all about a team effort as previous years have shown. I.e. the club events guy takes ownership of the event and other members donate their time to help out (For example Ian and his famous chilli :D )

We do get involved in most national events but due to the location this time it just wasn't possible for us. We do our best to attend as many national events as possible and help out the events guys (Japfest, Japshow (x2), Llandow, Suprapod), but we have to do so at our own cost so sometimes can't afford it, or simply don't have the time.

I will put up a proper reply to this thread once ive had some sleep but thank you to everyone who helped out me and Daman seriously did try our best with what little we had.

I have to say a big thank you to scrane (steve) and his wife(Diane) without them we would have had even more problems they where absolutely great! :)

You all done a great job considering the lack of support from the club. Without you, Daman, Steve and Diane's many trips back to Colchester for food and beer it would have been very dissapointing. I am amazed Daman kept as calm as he did trying to organize the club stand.

Why do organizers have to pay for supplies from their own money? The amount that Daman spent to keep us happy was way too much for one person and he should never be under that much pressure. Its one thing to organise the event but to have to actually financially support it is out of order. Daman should be reimbursed asap!

Thanks again to you all, as that was my best JAE yet.

Did you put your hand in your pocket or go out and collect things to ease his load?

I think the point here is that the Mods are supposed to be members that go above and beyond the call of duty to help out with the club. Bit like sergeants in the army if you will (you don't really expect your sergeant to come cut your grass, but you do expect him to come lead the damn parade). Naturally people look to someone for leadership and in events gone past people have looked upon the Mods to be those leaders/organisers. FWIW it appears to me that this particular event has been hung out to dry by not only this clubs administration but a great many others. This is IMHO because of the event organisers choice of venue.

Hey guys, i was there as a part of hondatech.co.uk. Was over talking to a few of the guys from your stand as i think a supra is the next step up from my integra.

I just wanted to say, all the guys i spoke to were spot on, really helpful, and the stand was looking well. wasnt aware you had problems, but from an outsaide viewpoint, your stand was one of the better ones.

I was gutted to have missed it this year.

I would like to think that Daman will be reimbursed (dont know how to spell that) by the club. He was forced to make a decision on behalf of the club. Something he should have to power to do due to the fact that he is a event moderator.

With regards the mods not being there, i dont see that as an issue at all. Its nice to see a few of the members "mucking in" thats what its all about.

Look forward to seeing you all at the next one.

Lack of support from the club? You're part of the club, as was everyone else there.

Daman had the full backing of the club officials and everything was organised in terms of food supply, fridges, marquee, lighting, music, etc. Something went wrong on some of these, but the club moderators (who run the forum) can't do much about that in advance. I don't know the details yet as Daman probably wants a bit of a rest before letting us know exactly what items came up during the weekend.

It's actually normal for the moderators/events guys to pay out of their own cash for items that are needed on the day, or even in advance of the day. We'd already paid for everything we could do up front. Normally we wouldn't expect someone to lose out on the food and stuff as that’s recouped by selling the items bought over the weekend. If additional costs were incurred then we will deal with them as the expenses claim comes in. It's really not an issue and happens on pretty much every major event.
