supra steveo
drove from Newcastle to suffolk tonight, and on getting home i found that i had a flat tyre so ive stuck an old 16" in for now on looking at the tyre ive found a nail the tyres are Toyo T1R`s and i think ive drove half the way home as when the auto box was changing down i was getting a sharp tug to the right but thought nothing of it, the tyre looks ok really but how much do these things cost to put right? or is it a new tyre ? the tyre is near new anyway so i dont really want to bin it yet
edge
Depends if any damage was done to the side wall and also where the nail went in as repairs cant be legally done if the nail is close to the edge of the road surface.
supra steveo
the wall is ok and the nail is 1/4 of the way across from the inside of the wheel about an inch from the inside of the........ahh ........i dont know how to word this *EDIT* I was talking absolute dog toffee above Edited September 1, 2008 by supra steveo (see edit history)
Dazzi
Don't they usually push a rubber strip into the hole? I've seen this done a few times.
sdavies
I have had neat nail holes repaired successfully in the tread for 15 notes. If it is ragged/slash like then there is less likelihood it can be repaired and you will be shelling out - last one was a 15mm ragged gash on the offside rear wheel on the inner side wall about 25mm up the side... really unlucky random debris damage! Sides = death, neat tread facing damage seems to repairable for the mean time (depends on how deep your pockets and paranoid you are - but I was assured the fix would be fine when I had mine done). Rob
If it was flat for several miles, you'll have damaged the inner walls. You should get it replaced. If you take it for repair, when they pop the tyre off look if there is little fragments of rubber inside, if there are none, then maybe its ok, but I'd not drive it again if it were mine. Ideally, replace both sides at once, but if the tyres are very new, you can get away with it. Other than that it'll be fine at slow speeds, say below 50. Obviously if you stick with it and it comes apart during a spirited drive, you can view it as a new set of challenges and skills to be learnt. Rob
Just to make my position clear, you have driven at least a hundred miles on a flat tyre. You should get it replaced. You must not drive on it again.
Guest suprafoxy
i agree the tyre will be nackard it you have driven that far
glanov
they should just be able too plug it mate if the wall is not damaged!! few quid will sort it if not a new tyre!

gordy07
Listen to the tyre place,i mean you could replace it just incase. But why should you if its ok and repairable.Thats just my opinion though.
supra steveo
i am going to try every where to get it repaired first, if its not then happening then i will just put the old 16"s on i cant afford to fork out for a new tyre this month
supra steveo
No i am a BIG fibber, i didnt think it looked that bad but i think it is and its closer to the edge of the tyre than i thought
supra steveo
could this be used with a can of wheel weld and then used for the track do you think ? its only about 3 months old i am buggered if i am giving it back already
creative
dont think any tyre place will repair that. too close to the wall/edge of the tyre. as much as its sucks you will need to get another tyre im afraid
AlexM
~£120 for a new tyre, or £15 and a close brush with death? I'd get a new tyre.
Guest Budz86
Looks like a new tyre needed unfortunatly mate. Also, as far as track days go they will be put under a lot of stress so not sure it's advisable to use them for it, could blow out at 150+ and that won't be fun! michael
I dont want to give it back I guess that would fit quite nicely on a grave. It's dangerous, it could take your life and the lives of people around you if it lets go. Put 16's on and replace the tyres when you can but please don't drive on that tyre. Chewie
I don't get it. You spend a small fortune on a car like a Supra but too tight to spend £200 max on a tyre even when yours and somebodys life is at risk. Good luck.
