Guest Gems
Welcome to the club You should ring around as many insurance companies as possible, stock TTs and NAs are pretty much the same cost to insure, the premium will rocket up on the NA if you put an aftermarket turbo, I/C and all the other bits needed surely. Then theres the added cost of all the parts. If you can get some more cash together initialy and drive a hard bargin you could probably find a decent auto for 4k. can get a tt for 5k [/GRIN] (my mate imports[GRIN] /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_grin.gif ) dont want an auto under any circumstances (no offence to anyone) ;)we shall see what i get..... mustang
Yeah, you'd struggle to get a 6spd TT for that money. Though theres a very nice looking facelift 6spd NA for that money and you'd be able to swap a TT lump into when you want more power. The TT engine will have similar power to a NA-T but will have greater potential for the future, probably more reliable too. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=174662

Homer
4k i think [/GRIN] im looking for a bargain, if i cant find the right one im gonna have to wait and get one imported dont do patience /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_angry.gif [GRIN] /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_grin.gif You won't get any decent TT 6spd for that money unless you are incredible lucky. If an auto is off the cards you're limited to an NA 5spd or a later 6spd, again if you are lucky enough to find one. One thing you must be made aware of is that the NA cannot be modified to make more power unless huge amounts of money are spent (more than the purchase price). The only cost effective mod is to fit a TT engine, but that will set you back around £2k minimum, plus much more if you have a base car with non-LSD diff. In the long run it's far more cost effective to buy a TT6 in the first place. Insurance costs are the same for all models except the UK ones which are far cheaper.
