2nd Turbo Issue

Scott

Recommended Posts

Ok, as per previous threads regarding my turbo's i have managed to get the first one working just fine. I can't for the life of me get the 2nd one to work so i am getting a hold of an EGVC and the exhaust actuator to see if thats the root of the problem.

I have checked all the vacuume pipes, that i can see, and i can see no issues with them. Is there anything else that i should be looking at? Is there anything i can do to rule out the 2nd turbo being at fault? I Was thinking of the TTC mod as i was thinking that would hold open the EGVC and the other VSV and if i got any problems i would have to look to the hot side of the 2nd turbo. Is that right?

Ok, i've tested my EVB and EGCV and they came back fine with the resistance check and functionality check.

Is there anything else i can check?

Have you checked and tested the IACV VSV?

If the 2nd turbo isn't kicking in its usually due to the IACV needing replacing.

I have an Aristo JZS161 and i'm having the same problem, i tested the IACV VSV, the resistance is fine but the air does not flow from port E to port F so i'm hoping this si the problem.

Now i've got to find a IACV VSV on the cheap :sly:

Hmm, i was told it would be the EGCV as thats what makes the 2nd turbo pre-spool

Will have a look at that one also though.

Thanks

Well its got to be either/or/both?:search:

I've still got to inspect the EBV on mine so that may be playing up too!

At least i know i have to replace the IACV vsv.

Good luck mate, i know this can be very frustrating, i'm trying to get to the bottom of my problem too and it sounds like you have the exact same problem.

Have you pressure checked the vsvs?

do any of you guys have an intermittent problem with the 2nd turbo working. sometimes when i kick down to pass another car, the rpm rises but there's no rush at 4000rpm it just feels sluggish. happens pretty rarely but when it does its sh!t because i've usually already pulled out to pass

Yeah that does happen.

I haven't had it happen too many times but its happened to me a few times. As far as i know its a common problem.

it left me in a difficult postion trying to pass an artic the other day. if its a common problem would there happen to be a common fix? IACV maybe?

U would be better asking in a seperate thread as i think most people are ignoring this one lol. I don't think there is a fix though, i think its a problem with the system. I dropped a cog at 5k revs and i had nothing till i lifted and floored again. I don't know what the issue is but the sequential system doesn't like it.

Actually I used to get this when I was TT on occasion, sometimes when dropping a cog the 2nd turbo wouldn't spool. I went single shortly afterwards so completely forgot all about it

oh well, i'll just have to go single, that'll sort it;)

Yeah, but then all hell brakes loose. Ask Jay ;)

Did you sort the problem? I just ordered the IACV vsv from Toyota, I should receive it next week and will install it straight away, hopefully it sorts my prob

how much was the IACV vsv? i'm going to go to toyota soon with a list of stuff including lexus washer jets and a few other bits and pieces and if the vsv wasn't to expensive i would order one or two up.

Ordered the vsv yesterday, it was £91.45 inc VAT. I just hope this is the problem as i don't want to have wasted the money. I'm quite sure my original vsv isn't operating correctly as the air didnt flow from one port to another.

IACV vsv Part No. T90910-12126
