Carl
I have long had an issue with my auto box but have put up with it as it only occurs on full throttle, usually higher speed situations but I want to get this sorted. Basically, if I floor the car throught the gears sometimes between 2nd to 3rd and nearly always between 3rd to 4th the revs hit the limiter before changing up. Sometimes I have to lety off the gas a little to allow the gear to change up then re-apply the gas again. Not what you what to do in an auto. I have been told that the most likely cause is probably the kick down throttle cables may need adjusting as they have become tight or even sticking due to lack of lubrication. This will often lead to kickdown mode holding in that particular gear for too long as I experience, hence letting off allowing it to change up. However, some TT's use the cables, some use an electronic controller of some sort. Apparently there are two of these kick down cables but I must admit I cant see them so Im thinking that probably mine has the electronic type. Can somebody clarify this for me and maybe shed some light on best way to adjust? hopeing someone else has had similar fault and cured in the same way. I'm told this is more common on the VVTI's. Chees in advance.

Carl
sounds like you might have the same problem has me heres my thread take alook http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=160100 Mine has never ceased to change up tho, it's just that I have had to let of the throttle a bit to help it through. An annoying issue none the less. Under normal conditions this problem never occurs. Its been like it for the last 2.5 years but I have never bothered to look at it as its not often I hit the speed to cause the problem. It's certainly never got any worse for me which is why I feel mine is some sort of kickdown adjustment rather than a mechanical box failure. Dazzi
Isn't there a little catch of some sort under the accelerator? When you put your foot to the floor to accelerate and press it slightly more you should feel the pedal go down about 1cm or so, im sure this is an override to tell the box to shift...? Sorry its been a while since I was in an auto

mrdsukautos
This could also be a speedo chip issue i use same chips as Jurgen the NCS ones and if you fit a pro chip this can cause the same problem changing it out to a non pro ncs chip fixed problem
