Guest livingthedeadbe
hey nic whats the difference between the J-spec Big brakes, and the uk spec brakes. are the uk spec brakes monoblock contruction like the trd brakes?
supra_aero
j-spec big brakes and uk brakes are the same. Does frustrate me people refer to the big brakes as uk brakes (I understand why, but it paints the picture that the uk spec cars seem far greater than the jap specs, which is not always the case). Just call them big brakes and little brakes, or 4 pot and 2 pot. It's one of the reasons people think all Jspecs came with small brakes, which they didn't. Nic
hey nic whats the difference between the J-spec Big brakes, and the uk spec brakes. are the uk spec brakes monoblock contruction like the trd brakes? No the UK spec brakes are not monoblock construction. All UK spec Supras came with the larger 4pot front/2pot rears, which is where the name came from, the larger spec brakes also came standard on many J-spec models, so the term is confusing. I prefer to refer to them as the smaller (2pot/1pot) and larger (4pot/2pot) spec brakes.
BillyC
Could anyone post up a set of the 4 pots and 2 pot fronts next to each other, and the 2 pots and 1 pot rears so they can be compared? Are the 2 Pot rears (usually on the UK ) the same as he front 2 pot ones normally on the front of the J Spec? Cheers
jazz1
how comes my jap spec facelift have uk spec 4 pot and 2 pot rears?
tDR
They're easy to tell apart and look totally different front and rear - smaller brakes are of the sliding caliper single sided piston type, the larger ones are dual sided piston type hence you can't see the pads through them from the wheel side. Cheers Pics of the larger 4pot/2pot calipers here http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=98436 The 2 pot fronts and 2 pot rears are completely different. AndyT
how comes my jap spec facelift have uk spec 4 pot and 2 pot rears? Option on the RZ-S mate. Or option on all jspec and standard on RZ-S. Either that or the previous owner upgraded.
