Kim1978
Went BPU+ this weekend and I love how the car pulls. In the first and second gear I do not have any misfiring but when going over 5k rpm and hitting full boost (1.2 bar) in gear 3-6 I see misfiring but the car keeps pulling through the misfiring anyway. Otherwise it idles and pulls nice. I just can't go over 1bar, this is especially noticeable when the engine is hot - when it is cold it pulls w/o misfire. I am running brand new NGK - BCPR7ES (3330) plugs with stock gap, 0.8mm I believe it is. Other mods are boost controller, bcc, 3" exhaust turbo-back and greddy 3-row. I will try regapping them...to 0.7mm...does it sound right? If that doesn't solve the problem should I replace the running coil packs? Any other ideas what the problem can be? hadyn
Does sound like a plug gapping or loose plug issue to me...
merckx
I will try regapping them...to 0.7mm...does it sound right? Yes, definately try that. Misfires are great aren't they, I've got one. I've changed the plugs, fitted new coilpack connectors (the old ones were fine) and fitted new coilpacks and leads (only 3 coilpacks with leads on the vvti )and it's still there. Terminator
0.7mm is the recommended gap. If that does not do it, check the connectors as suggested above. The metal terminals in the coil pack plugs are held in by white inserts, these can become very brittle with age, simply unplugging them can break the plastic which means that metal contacts inside are not held in their proper place causing a misfire. When I took my engine out for my single build, two white insert fell out of the plugs, after only 47000 miles of use.

Jim_1979
I've done the clips and plugs on mine. Going to try a second hand set of coilpacks which were running fine at 1.2bar on previous car. Hopefully that'll sort the problem out.

Whenever I've bought them they're always 0.8-0.85mm out of the pack. I've bought around 100 of them in the past couple of years
