Bloody french cars!!

Bought a megane on an 03 plate about a month ago as a runaround, now a month later its first issue arises. It has started having a problem firing up when warm. It has a key card and push button start system, and every now and then it just turns over without firing. It seems to be ok when I leave it to cool down but as you can imagine this is not ideal especially whn filling up at a petrol station.

I have been told that renaults have crank position sensor problems, could this be the issue. Any help really appreciated.

I traded in a n reg fiesta for this that never let me down:angry:

There not all that bad. I bought a N reg 306 TD with 135K miles on it for £600 to use for work, as fuel was costing me a fortune on my RX7. It manages nearly 700 mile to a tank or 60 MPG, rx7 would get 250 miles a tank and would cost more to fill the tank. It's now on 143K in 6 months. With mileage allowance it's now paid for itself and other than having to replace 2 tyres and a lower arm as part of the MOT it's work perfectly.

The Pug 306 was probably an exception to this rule. I had a 52 plate 2.0L Laguna a few years back and although it was a joy to drive and I did 70K miles in it, it let me down on quite a few occasions. One of the best ones was when I was late to see a customer and it refused to start. Put the card in and out loads of times, pressed the button and nothing got out locked it and unlocked it and it was still dead.......:(

Rang the AA and they said that they would be up to an hour. Waited and made some calls cancelling my appointments etc, the AA guy rang me to say he was 2 mins away. Out of curiosity, I tried the button again and the tw@t fired up.....FFS!

I was really embarrased to ring the AA guy and tell him the story. I would never have a French car again......

Got to be honest, I'd get rid of it.

A few friends of mine (incl. J with the mr2) have had French before and would not go back. It seems that peugeot just go out of their way to make things unnecessarily complicated.

J had this 306 and I really wouldn't be surprised if you had to take the bonnet off to change the spark plugs.

Having said that, Lindsey had a 106 for years and didn't really have any problems with it at all.

The 306 TD is the best thing ever to have came out of France. It was the only thing that worked IIRC.

Can you explain that to my headlights and also to the central locking?

Unfortunately i was only really referring to the engine lol. My little 106 is having numerous problems with the central locking. Goes through batteries like kids go through tic tacs.
