quigonjay
hi, i'm Jay from Oswaldtwistle in Lancs and maybe looking upgrade from my mr2 turbo to a supra usually to be found on the imoc forum and beleive a few have done the mr2 to supra thing so might recognise a few names does anyone know of a place called AP Sports and Prestige as they have a nice facelift model for sale just down the road from me that i might have a look at http://www.apsportsandprestige.co.uk/108339/stock.htm (3rd from the bottom) not necassarily what i am after but seems to be the closest tt 6 speed for sale worked on a couple of supras but never actually driven one (unless you can call manouvering in/out of workshop driving) so just want to get a test drive and see if a supra is what i am after or carry on modding the mr2 one more thing, i notice this one is the facelift model but dont actually know what the differences are? is the jspec facelift model still the same spec as pre facelift? (ie still ceramic turbos, smaller brakes, plastic lenses etc) cheers guys Jay
AndyT
Welcome Jay. It's a lovely motor. Price is whatever you want to pay really, but it is around the mark for a top notch motor. Can't see the mileage, but don't expect it to be too high on a 98 car. Facelift is mainly cosmetic differences. ie the side indicators front and back, dash, wheels etc. It is vvti and therefore a little trickier to deal with if you're into modding. Jspec turbos remain the same with ceramic blades. The only difference is between uk and jspec. It is a great stock car by the look of it and being 6 speed too puts a premium on it. All the best. A:)

quigonjay
cheers guys, just been reading through all the pdf's not as straight forward as it looks then when it comes to which model has what so it might possibly have the smaller brakes then? or alternatively are they 16 or 17" wheels? (not definative i know but if they are 16's at least i know it has the smaller brakes) Edited August 25, 2008 by quigonjay (see edit history)

AndyT
No worries Jay. The brakes will be the smaller J spec regardless of wheel size unless the previous owner upgraded. Then you should have receipt proof. They're not bad. Just don't do too much track driving.
quigonjay
they 'possibly' might have had them from new though?
AndyT
they 'possibly' might have had them from new though? Sorry bud. It's j spec. It came new with the small brakes. Japanese cars are limited to 112mph. No need for the bigger brakes used on uk spec.

carl0s
Wow that'll teach me. RZ had large brakes. Here's wishing you luck on that one bud. RZ-S, which is a lot of facelift cars, came with big brakes as standard I think.
