suprab
hi all, i have some strange handling problems with my 95 TT 6speed. it seams to take off to the right under acceleration. tyres are new, pressures are checked. there is no rattles or bangs from anything over rough ground, no play in any of the wheels. tein superstreet about 8 months old. had the tracking, camber etc checked. there does not seam to be any play or wear on the arms etc !! is it possible to be the diff causing my problem?? or how do i go about checking or testing it?? thanks, Brian
monkey3
Any chance the suspension is set up incorrectly? Say for example the stiffness was different between the front left and right, that would cause all sorts of problems. Silly question, but when you accelerate, are you flat out? Is the back end stepping out? Or does it happen under modest acceleration as well?
Swampy442
Might be a rear subframe bush...

AJI
thrust line maybe?
suprab
hi, thanks for the suggestions.. in the wet i cant tell as it just goes sideways, so when i say it takes off to the right its in the dry, foot planted in say third and the back end doesnt break. i did play with the suspension settings, harder in the front, harder in the rear, both the same but it doesnt seam to make much difference. i cant say for sure there is not a wheel bearing gone but i dont hear any noises, same goes for bushings. no vibrations, humming or rattles.. so im confused sorry AJI i dont know what thrust line means. AJI
'thrust line' is to do with the tracking settings.... basically if the rear wheels are not pointing straight along the length of the chassis... ie. in a straight line to the direction of straight driving, then your driving wheels (the rear ones) will always be forcing the rear end out at an angle. If you have not taken your car to have a 4 wheel lazer alignment then this might be an idea. Unless you can pin-point it to being another problem. SteveR
Get to a geo specialist ASAP and see how it's been set up (baseline it).
suprab
Ah ok thanks..yes it was on the 4wheel laser alignment, they put it up and after rolling the car forward and backwards and locking the steering left to right it worked out the measurements and they adjusted it as the comp said.. when they were fininshed they gave me the print out and it seamed to be all in green which they said its all good! i did bring it to a guy who does corner weighting and he had a look, took a few readings etc and said as a road car its se up fine! there is nobody else i can bring it too as both these places are "supposed" to be the best around, ill hopefully get it up on the lift again before the weekend and get every bushing etc checked, but im not sure ill find anything worn
SteveR
It sounds like it's all good.... but it clearly isn't, from the experiences you're having. Hmmm. Maybe go visit Chris Wilson and get a Supra/geo expert (i.e. him) to feel how it drives?
