Race pistons, Mahle V Wiseco

Stripping my 4-AGE Toyota engine for a rebuild and looking at some new pistons. Here is Mahle's idea of a proper race Formula Atlantic engine piston versus Wiseco. Good example of why I call most American pistons boat anchors :) If YOU were a con rod which one would like to be stopping going through the head at 11.000 RPM? To be fair there's a big price difference, but honestly, those Wiseco ones are HEAVY!!!

No idea what material the Mahle ones are, but at the sort of piston speeds this thing uses I would go for lightweight. Mahle was the piston of choice in FA, Wiseco just make a suitably sized and pocketed replacemnt. It needs a full refresh every 5 hours or so run time, so piston life as such is not an issue as they get binned anyway, with valves, springs and caps and collets. The short service life, and the maintenance cost is making me think of dropping the CR, fitting mild cams and putting a turbo and I/C on it. I just don't seem to have the time any more for such frequent engine strips on something I am not getting paid to work on. Getting older and slower...Cheers.
