Nic
how do you spot a manual from a auto diff ? are there any visual giveaways or part numbers written on them? They are visually different. Left is an early model 6spd TT diff (B), on the right is the smaller diff (A) used on all the other Supra models (including the facelift 6spd TT). http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/2994/supravsoarerex8.jpg View from opposite side http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/5899/supravsoarer2ds2.jpg Here's another pic; B on the left, A on the right Edited September 25, 2009 by Nic (see edit history)
Homer
Is the diff in your car from an NA 6spd or 5spd? If it's from an auto or 5spd the diffs are the same, however it will have different driveshafts and proper from a proper 6spd.
csa
okay, so in total (all supras accounted, NA's, Auto's, TT's ect) there are only 2 different diffs made?

There are only two casings, but there are variations between crown sheel size and the diff itself

I've replaced it with the "oldschool" japspec TT, but I'd like to know what kind of diff this is)

csa
unless: I know for a fact that the diff I have comes from a NA, question is (as originally asked) is there any differences between the internals in the NA auto vs manual diff (meaning the diff itself)

Without have the 2 side by side though, I'm not sure how you would determine which it is.

csa
but it is not. I KNOW it's from a NA, so if we keep all TT diff out the equation, is there ANY differences between NON TURBO manual and NON TURBO auto diffs?
JamieP
CSA is asking is there any different between a NA auto diff and a NA manual diff, nothing to do with a TT:) EDIT.. best me to it.

No difference according to the EPC, only difference is in the final gear ratio.
Guest dangerousandy
The UK spec TT diff has unions on the top for the diff cooler pipes and a bracket for the pump. Does that make 3 different types of diff?
