Hi Folks,

I'm new to the site and kinda new to my supra. Its a 94 mkiv n/a manual, silver, with tt alloys. Pretty standard...for now:)

My question is, I've just noticed a clicking noise from the engine area, it seems to stop when I press in the clutch and it comes back a second or two after I release the clutch.

The car is perfect apart from that, no power loss etc...

With all the experiance on the site I reckon someone will have an idea what it is

Cheers

Ciaran

I've heard that the 6 speed box is a noisy beast. The clicking doesn't seem to be from the box, but somewhere under the hood, it goes away when I dip the clutch and reappears when I let it up???

@ Adam,

Yep, that is what it is, but I can also hear it when the car is moving, if i let down the windows and drive beside a wall etc, the clicking can be heard...

i will dig out the exact name for the problem tomorrow afternoon for you, it was on an AA report on my car, but it sounds identical to what you say, nothing to worry about..... take it to a garage they will know immediately what it is. ( I even had the same noise on a new clutch) and drove it for 6-7k and it made no difference at all. Oh and yup when your going by walls you can hear it!:p

I have a small tapping/clicking noise aswell. I took mine to a Toyota dealer and was told that it was only a hydraulic noise and nothing to worry about. It shouldn't get any worse as mine has been doing it for a good while now and it is still the same level of noise as when I first noticed it.

If it does start to get louder then take it to a mechanic quickly as something might be on its way to breaking. (Well thats what the Toyota guy told me as I'm no car mechanic).

I spoke to a mechanic today, and he confirmed that it was more than likely the clutch release bearing as the noise go's away when a little pressure is put on the clutch pedal.

He says it wont harm anything, but would need to drop out the box to fix it!

Thanx for the help Guys
