marbleapple
I get a lot of them and I just think the information is collected to be passed on to other scam lists. i.e. if you are stupid enough to fill all that in then boiler room fraud etc might work on you. Snooze
Where are you supposed to send this information? In a return email? What's the sender email address?

adnanshah247
right a lot of people dont know this but i have a governmental job and just with the details that you give to those answers a lot of things can be done. we have stressed enough about what people can gain from those emails:- IDENTITY THEFT people! very simple. when you apply for loans etc. everything reflects on your name age and address. the question isnt what they can get out from those details, the question is where those scum bags will stop because for them the sky is the limit. keep your stuff protected and never ever give your details out. Ewen
Where are you supposed to send this information? In a return email? What's the sender email address? The e-mail came from *[email protected]* I've found references to the same e-mail on the web, same wording etc, but with a hotmail address for John Chapman. I know its a scam BTW, but I dont get the why.
SimonB
They can't do anything with that information, but I bet if you sent it off you would get a reply asking you for your bank details, or asking you to pay a handling fee or something. JustGav
Id theft is a very serious issue and very easily done. Some key bits of info and with a kind word you can easily find out the rest of the info. Social Engineering isn't something to be taken lightly. EXACTLY that. its the further information that can easily be obtained, thats what you need to worry about. dont give those scum bag ba*stards a chance. one guy was caught cloning somebody else identity, he had taken over £1million worth of loans until he slipped up rather lightly but was enough for a full investiagtion to start. the poor guy who was the victim went through severe depression because all of a sudden his life turned on him but thankfully the thief was caught and the matter was dealt with. what pi$$ed me off though was this, fraudsters who have done £500k+ plus fraud can get away with a maximum of 6months whilst somebody who does a robbery for a tv worth £1000 goes to prison for 5-7 years. marbleapple
Like what? All that info is freely available from the electoral role. Phone numbers? Boiler room fraud is not nice and if they have your details they know you are a bit slow and thus easily minipulated. Irrespective of what they use the info for, its safe to conclude that it won't be a positive thing. My most recent fraud mail is a mail asking me to pick up a UPS/Fedex parcel with the attached Zip file having the parcel details
