Guest brad26-supra
Hi, ive got a few questions. I have a '94 Jspec N/A JZA80 GE. I know engine mod parts for the N/A are scarse because ive spent the last six weeks ringing around companies in the UK including Envy, Whifbitz, Demon Tweeks, etc. Firstly, when I got my N/A its top end speed was 140 mph and im assuming this was because of the fuel pump because it had been derestricted, etc and when it reached 140 mph it was like a rev limiter sound. I had NOS put in and the fuel line was cut into for obv reasons, after this the top end is now 152 mph (I know the NOS is there to just assist the accelleration and not doesnt add to top end speed) but does anyone know why this has happened (im not complaing) and if I got a Warlbro fuel pump would it increase the top end speed further. If not what would you recommend, I have done no engine mods (well other than a powerflow system exhaust and a HKS induction kit). Second, does anyone know where I can get a de cat pipe from. Nobody will touch the first cat and everywhere ive gone have said its pointless replacing the second by itself. Third, would anyone recommend remapping the N/A ECU, if not, would I be best getting performance one such as AEM then getting that remapped. If I did remap the ECU would it make much difference to the fuel being injected with the NOS to make it run lean/rich. Fourth, what would you recommend I should do to the engine, if anything. Im not keen on a conversion and anything like forged pistons, etc as yet. Im also not really too fussed on engine mods if its gona cost me an arm and a leg as ive spent around 4k on styling anyways. Fifth, would a TT clutch fit onto my N/A, if so what BHP are they good for because im running around 233bhp plus 75bhp of NOS. I appreciate you guys probs answer the same question day in day out but I think the mechanics in my area just make things up because they dont know and the all say different things regarding engine mods. Thanks for your help.
TonyP
Hi. This has kind of been done to death already, if you do a search you'll find loads of info. In short it is not possible to get more power out of the na engine without huge expense and then only small gains. If you're not happy with the power that you have then a conversion is really the only option.
Pete
Decats available from Chris Wilson (see sig) You can't remap an ECU - you can replace or use a piggy back. Not really worth it on an NA - why not put the money towards a TT? No idea about the clutch.
gordy07
For the money youve spent on it already it could be a TT you could get a transplant fitted and set up for less than 4k

Thanks for your help. 1. Fitting a Walbro pump will make zero difference to performance. 2. Fitting a tubular exhaust manifold will gain you a few hp's, these replace the stock cast manifolds and first cat. http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8473/p1030161sa4.jpg http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/1831/p1030162uk1.jpg 3. It's possible to get the stock ECU mapped in Japan but it is not cheap, AFAIK no one in the UK can do this. A piggyback ECU such as an Emanage Ultimate may gain you a little, but don't expect big gains. 4. Not a lot you can do engine wise unless you are prepared to spend big money on a complete engine rebuild. 5. If your NA is a 5spd, a TT clutch will not fit, TRD do uprated clutch disc and clutch cover for the 5spd.
