Guest Terry S
The FBW controls all sorts of functions not least it is FAR superior with regards to knock supression. If you had an issue with your FBW before, it's because you had a problem with your car before. Toyota really aren't stupid. They did not install the FBW on later cars to save money! Guest Usmann A
Amen, FBW is neat when it sees Knock.
JohnA
If FBW were really superior, they would have it standard on the UK version (just kidding...)
TRD3000GT
BUT all this considered,, If the car is tuned properly and not pushed! , It should never knock right?
Guest Terry S
so there is never a bad batch of fuel right?
JohnA
My calibra had seen up to 30 psi (briefly) with no hint of detonation. When it kicked the bucket it was doing 1 bar, *if* that. You never know, dude...
TRD3000GT
so there is never a bad batch of fuel right? Well, Im not sure about that... I just spoke with the tuners and they told me all about the FBW setup on the car and that it was not worth it really... But if I wanted it they could incorporate it.. Basically, If in 5th gear running 2500rpm, I put my foot flat down the car will open the butterfly 100% but with FBW it will open it gradually... In all honestly I may loose a small ammount of HP.. But also with the car tuned safely and not running with everything stressing it wont be a problem.
Guest Terry S
Maybe the tuners cant do the FBW, I would definitely pay the money and get it done, IF they can actually do it. I know Chris Wilson said that Motec were struggling with it! Nothing wrong with tuning the car safely, just a shame to loose power when it's not really necessary dont you think?? I know what you mean, but Its becomming a never ending tunnel Im being dragged down... They have done the FBW on about 15 cars Mitsubishi EVO's including an MR2 new style which they have said is pretty much the same system as the VVTI Supra so Im not worried about them not being able to do it. I am going without it for now as I just cant afford the Extra £350.. But I have told them I might be back before the summer for them to hook it up and re-map the car.. Either way it can be utilised with a VS intake manifold so I might have to just do without it
Guest Terry S
They need to tell Motec how to do it then.
TRD3000GT
They need to tell Motec how to do it then. Ha, Im guessing that they now know how to do it as they are one of the main UK Motec specialists.. They just fitted 3 to the new EVO's that were delivered by plane the other day and delivered straight to them..
