This is the wrong thread for this, but at the risk of starting too many "rant" threads I'll stick it here:

QUESTION: Jamie, how much did they cost?

ANSWER: See first thread

For crying out loud. Read the bl**dy thread before you ask stupid questions!!!

Happy today then? :D

My personal thing is people saying, 'I'm not being funny but....'

You are clearly trying to be 'funny'.. stop saying it!

Quite right sir. I hate that phrase.

Also the abbreviation lol is over-used. Very few times would I actually laugh out loud. Some people are very easily amused. I can only assume they don't need to spend much to see stand-up comedians.

No it's humble, "in my humble opinion"

HTH :D

And omg wtf does hth mean?? Text speak is a sign of the times. Ive noticed that in the recent (sad) knife crimes, when they interviev the yoof of London, the English venacular has evolved. My pet hate is the word Like, used every third word, but has evolved to sound thus "laaak"

I woz waalkin down the street laak, an manden brought blade to da party."

I mean wtf??!

Oh how I hate abbreviated speak.... particularly the over used...

lol

For some reason, I just can't stand it when I see it in a thread (waits for someone to use it in this one...)

Also don't like "IMHO". I find "IMO" to be far more effective if you absolutely have to use it, as I don't know anyone that gives a dishonest opinion.

Another rant is the way my wife starts every sentence with "To be honest"... makes me cringe everytime she uses it.

One more..... "innit". A guy on the train yesterday was having a rather loud conversation with his friend on a mobile innit. He used "innit" in every sentence, sometimes more than once bruv, and finished off every sentence with it too innit. The call went on for about 10 minutes and I was close to homicidal...innit. You know what I mean innit!

People use acronyms all the time, specifically the armed forces and large companieshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acronym, I do dislike the whole chav text speak though.
