over the weekend i have been cleaning my garage out and i found my old Tamiya Hornet that i used to race arouind the street as a kid so after looking on ebay it looks like it is going to be very cheap to bring back to life ive just bought new tyres for it and it looks like it wont take much to get it back on the road, just need a controller for it and a battery charger, i will probaly get a new chassis for it to then i think i will start on a new project ........... something like this:D

thats awesome mate! how much do one of those cost?!

the standard car is £330, that will do 80mph out the box, the uprated clutch bell is £25, this is what gives it the 100+ figure, don't know exactly how much over it does, i can't find anywhere long enough or flat enough. the shell was £30 :)

Is that a schumacher?

Edit: Doh, must look at links.

:D

its cost me about £400, plus about £45 for the first crash.:taped:

it really is amazing to watch, i have had it in third gear three times, once when i crashed. probably only about 70-80. if i had two i could take it on rwyb at santa pod :)

would be interesting, unless i went under his wheels. :)

yea lol, wouldnt be such a good idea i guess, unless you got little rails going up the strip which would hold the rc car in a straight line, and can go of? but i guess santa pod wouldnt let you do that:d

not sure, the bloke in the model shop seems to think they would? not sure if the standard radio gear that comes with it would be up to the job.

looks like youll need to be on a bike:D yea they should, if the rails are high enough, not to hit the car but enough to hold them in, it SHOULD work

trying to avoid the model shop at all costs at the mo.

they have the new savage 5.9 big block in stock and also a really nice carbon bodied caterham 7 bolted to the mardave v12 hot rod chassis, i know i will come out with both if i go in there :eyebrows:,

the mardave is very nice, although i know i would have to remove the standard 540 size motor and put a 19 turn in it, also change the 4.8v to 7.2. This would make it silly fast. :) and more than likely destroy the nice shell

I went a looking for a new toy on Saturday. Came back empty handed though. Half the fun used to be building the kit, but it seemed every one I looked at was pre built. :(

go to the shop on wellinborough rd jez, they have lots of the tamiya rc kits to build up, i remember seeing lots of controls, wheels, batteries, fluids etc behind the counter, seem to specialists on rc's:)

Kev, its me, I dont want a £88 Tamiya toy. I want an 80mph nitro beast. Looked at Schumachers and HPI's. All ready built though.

mine is normally un- built after i have used it :D, the schumacher fusion 28 is by far the best at the moment, that is what i have, it's a lot better than the old fusion 21.

ohhh:D but still check them out, when i used to go in, they used to be going through all their books helping rc fans, people used to bring theirs in to get bits to fix em, they also order things if they dont have them stocked, go in, tell them what your looking for and i bet theyll be able to help
