Guest funk-daddy
Hi Guys, Just got myself a non turbo 94 supra. It has had the speedometer conversion done into MPH but im not sure about the digital display odometer. When they do the conversion do they also convert that into Miles or leave it in Kms. Im slightly concerned that if they leave it as is (Kms) that im only getting about 11 miles to the gallon!! Put in £20 of fuel, reset the trip, and its now reading 100 and i need more fuel again. If that is miles then its not to bad but if its kms then wow....shes thirsty! Is that normal for a non turbo, if so i recon im gunna be selling it pretty soon!! Iv been driving it pretty consevatively too! Any info would be great, cheers guys.
CJ
IMHO, you should be getting about 18 MPG with the N/A. Therefore I would assume that your odometer is reading miles not KM's
SupraStar 3000
I've been told that some MPH to KPH conversions can gain you a few extra miles on the odometer. I had a major problem on my car when it was imported with this issue. I also have a receipt from the import co that confirms the actual mileage and a report from the AA also supporting the reading. Try asking the import co if they can shed some light on it
Guest funk-daddy
Cheers guys, I know the simplest way to test it would be to drive along a stretch of road that i roughly know the length of but thought id see if you could give me a definitive answer or any general information. Thanks again chaps.
Jake
Just got myself a non turbo 94 supra. Put in £20 of fuel, reset the trip, and its now reading 100 and i need more fuel £20? If you're going to own a Supra you should get used to buying your petrol £50 at a time! 100 miles for £20 sounds roughly about right though mate. I usually get about 280miles for a £55 fill up. You probably know how far it is to work, right? Measure it in the Supra and see if the Odo is reading in Miles or KMs
ballsoutracing
If your speedo converter is like mine, then your odometer will read in kms, but will actually be clocking up miles.
tango
Hi guys, Yours car are thirsty, 18mpg, you must flash it a lot, I have a jap's TT, I put £50 in and get about 350miles out of it, when put foot down I still get about 300, that's about between 26 -30 mpg, I also get around 33mpg on motorway doing about 80-90mph. cheeers. You do the maths. I just did. Assuming 83.9p to a gallon of Optimax (You shouldn't be using anything less!) your 300miles on £50 works out to 22.8mpg (59.59 litres or 13.126 imperial gallons) And if you DO happen to be using 'Tescos value fuel' at 78.9p per gallon, you're only shading 21.5mpg. (63.37 litres or 13.95 gallons) Sorry to shatter your illusions!
CJ
.... I also get around 33mpg on motorway doing about 80-90mph. cheeers. I get that every night too...then wake up to the smell of coffee

Supragal
If your speedo converter is like mine, then your odometer will read in kms, but will actually be clocking up miles. Mate, you gotta get that sorted. Imagine when you try to sell it! "Whats the mileage?" "Well it reads 120000 but it actually a lot less" "mmmhmmm, really? can you prove it?" "errr. no"
Soop Dogg
It is surprising how many are running around with their speedos/odos in this configuration! I would change it though if it were me! (Rosie knows best...)

tango
Hi, 60 litres is about 10.9gallon, 5.5l to 1 gallon, 300miles devide by 10.9g is works out about 27mpg that with foot down, and I get 32 on motorway, even the mk3 turbo I had just as good as this mk4 turbo. good on toyota. That's US litres you're using there I think, using UK units 1 gallon is 4.55 litres. If optimax is 83.9 per litre as Soop Dogg posted, 50quid = 59.59 litres. Clarkey
I can get 360miles to a tank with 5 litres in the tank remaining before having to visit the Shell Garage. And that's driving completely off-boost and driving at 60-65. If I do 70-80ish then the tank will last about 300 miles.
supRo
I had my speedo converted today at Thor. I had the option to do the Odometer but that would mean it would read the current KM it's covered and from now on the miles will be added onto that. Try new spark plugs to see if it helps with the fuel economy and take it easy with right foot :-)

Ian C
Well, I cheerfully drive over 80 almost everywhere and get 22 to 24mpg to a tankful, that's a mix of cruise and some booting it. How's that -Ian
