Soon driving will be a rare treat in this country. Such a shame. Still, less cars on the roads means more fun for the people left on the roads eh? Well, nope. We'll all have these satnav units installed and once we go over the speed limit we'll get fined again and probably put in prison or hung. I'm going to start saving for an island of my own.

The Treasury earmarked millions of pounds for the pilots in the budget and Chancellor Alistair Darling believes the scheme could be crucial in cutting congestion in the long-term.

Well at least they are using the money they have got wisely. :rolleyes:

Aaand another thing, if we end up paying per mile, will the Govt remove other taxes like VED? IF VED is removed what incentive is there to buy an economic car? If I'm going to pay £1.30 a mile to sit in traffic into a major city, I might as well do it in a luxury 4x4 rather than pokey Perodua or Smart.

So, we pay insurance to be on the road which is TAXED. Fuel to run the cars. The fuel is TAXED. We pay road TAX also to be on the road

which has just recently risen even though our country produces the LEAST Co2 and TAXED per mile as the latest fad?!

Let me work that out...Labour = robbing b***ards!

I thought this country was a Democracy - when are the Gov't going to start representing its people, through the thoughts of its people - rather than a mindless few who are after everything they can muster!

Another Tick for reasons to up and leave, I think I'm on 2049 now!!:rolleyes:

All in the aid of congestion???? - are they forgetting we all have to be somewhere otherwise we wouldnt be on the bleeding potholed roads!! Let's be honest who the hell goes for a 'casual drive' during rush hour!!?

p.s Doesnt 'The Telegraph' continuously spout shiiiiii%%?

carnt see this happening imho, surly its to do with human rights and all that when they are tracking everyone and seeing what they are up to and when, i just carnt see it.

Since when did this government give a sh1t about human rights? They've been watching us via CCTV and on the 'net for years. It's not such a huge leap between now and a future where all traffic is monitored via satalite. Then how long until cars drive themselves? The pink squashy bit behind the wheel won't be necessary soon.

You get less time in jail for killing someone - crazy

Yeh exactly! I think i read somewhere in the paper a while back that this polish guy killed an old lady by a hit and run, had NO licence...

fined £40.00!!

Then i read this;

An old lady who didnt pay her council tax gets jailed!

Where's the fairness and jutice in that?!

I hate this Government!
