Dragonball
Just got my new brakes on - and have red stuffs fitted! If I may make an observation CRAP! They are just not up to it (IMHO) - tons of break dust and a real falling off in power when hot - they are also blue-ing my cross drilled and grooved discs slightly (they are getting too hot) Initial bite is good though They also take a while to heat up from start Mintex - bit squealy The suggested pad are Ferrodo's (2000 or 3000?) Paul Whiffin loves his Porters But I am not impressed - and this from a man who was greenstuff positive on my last car Paul
eyefi
no personal experience, but they r meant to b good on light cars but not fast heavier cars. they r also not very nice to discs. so i would say shite.
Adam W
All EBC stuff is utter shite. A sweeping statement, but I'll stand by it.

randy
Anyone using the Project Mu HC Titanium (kai) pads? Thinking of buying them?
mark brown
I'm using Perormance Friction pads, sourced from Chris Wilson, albeit in AP 6 pot calipers, on his recommendation. Pads are excellent. no noise and not much dust and great braking. Tried both Ferodo grades, again in AP 6 pots, braking is excellent, but very noisy, no amount of copper grease on the backing would shut them up and very dusty. Dragonball
Mark Any details on where to get them? These red stuffs are really doing my head in! Cheers Paul:cool:
mark brown
Speak to Chris Wilson, can't find details at moment but they are on the BBS Mark Brown
Need4Speed
While we're comparing pads, anybody got any views on Black Diamond discs. I'm thinking of fitting grooved or grooved/drilled discs with UK calipers up front.
Dragonball
I have them - and they appear to be,...well...discs really! I notice a more noticable 'strumming' sound under high braking(not a bad noise) as the pads go over the grooves (I assume) Many will say there is no need for drilled and grooved and it actually weakens the disc Whichever you have - good discs + crap pads = crap braking (hence the reason for my search for good pads) Cheers Paul:cool:
Paul Whiffin
I can supply performance friction pads for the Supra if needed......and Project MU(bloody expensive though).
Steve W
I've got NO IDEA about grooves/holes on car discs, BUT, having had older bikes with plain discs and modern bikes with holed discs, [AND, having drilled my own discs on an old RD250 ! ! CAREFULLY ! ] I can AT LEAST state one MAJOR difference between holed/plain - with the plain there was a fraction-of-a-second delay in wet weather as the pad cleared the disc of water. with the holed there was/is no real 'wait' for initial reaction - the brakes are more-like in the dry. [bIG difference on the RD, noticed IMMEDIATELY in rain - BIG delay when plain / NO delay after drilling] Don't know if that applies to car discs, as, they are far more protected from weather under the bodywork ? ? Steve. ps. I'm pretty sure having holes/grooves must rip the pad material faster than plain - but perhaps it's insignificant ? pps. besides.....they look neat with holes/grooves in eehhhh ? Thorin
Drilled discs are prone to cracking under heavy braking. I've seen pictures of the damage it caused to a car when they cracked under braking on a track day. Lets just say I won't be putting any on my car. Paul Whiffin
I'd personally just stick with plain discs if you can with a decent set of pads.
