Willson
A friend wants to get a nice looking, good size, turbo car with auto and cruise. Has between 2.5k and a very maximum of 5k. The car must be a UK model for his insurance. He likes the look of the mk3 Supra turbo and the 300ZX TT. Anyone got any advice ? Good or bad points of either model ? Thanks
ewizzy
For that sort of money, It would have to be a 200Sx, The Supra is a bit leggy now (mk3 that is) and the Nisan is also going to have BIG things wrong at that price too!!! (in my experience, the pipes tend to split, and in some cases, its almost an engine or gearbox out job to replace some!) This is my two pence worth of course, other people may and probably will have much better advice!
Bobbeh
The 300ZX looks cooler. I'd go with that.
Tom
Yep I'd deffo be looking at the 200sx as there's so many that are auto's! gotta be the best choice for that money!
Willson
Yeah, I suggested the 200sx, but he didnt like the look of them
Bobbeh
The MK3 is seriously dated, the 300ZX still looks cool today I think, classic looks.
GeordieSteve
300zx... save yourself a fortune on head gaskets
BigRoy
For 5K he would get a UK 300 that had been looked after. Point him to http://www.300zx.co.uk
Willson
Cheers Does any one know of a mk3 supra board ?
Lez
Yep here http://www.forum.mkiiisupra.net/ and for what is worth, I'd choose the MkIII any day. You can pick up a good 92 UK TT for 1.5K with the knowledge that there is an abundance of cheap spares out there, assuming he wants to work on the car !! headgasket is easy to do and there are lots of engine tweaks available. Willson
Yeah he likes to do a bit of work himself, he mentioned the supra being easier to work on. Cheers
Scooter
why not look out for a import 2.5l twin turbo Mk111? (Lexus soarer engined one) If he likes the Mk111 look this would seem ideal to me..........
