Too late for single?

If your looking to go single i would either do what jamie has done and buy a low milage 6 speed or get one thats already been done. Having owned a single with an auto box i would suggest sticking with a manual.

P.S - T51 on an auto would be no fun AT ALL. :)

ahh guess you never tried a high stall then, absolutely nothing wrong with a single on an auto and as long as the engine has been looked after the mileage should not be an issue, i would suggest you try and get a test drive in a T61 auto and better still one equiped with a high stall torque converter

I had my UK spec put on a t-61 at 128,000 miles and it showed no problems at all. I sold it with 133,000 on it to a man from Sweden who plans on drag racing the car.

The mileage shouldnt be a problem, valve stem oil seals may a little worn but it would be fine.

If you are staying on the stock auto box i would consider a much smaller turbo if i was you, phr street kit or BL T61 would be my choice.

If you are considering going manual im still not sure id go with such a large turbo, on a stock engine i dont think you will get the most out of it.

Id go T04-z or T67 and i think it would make a faster street car as you will be able the run the turbo at its full potential and with better spool it would make for a nicer drive imo.:)

Add dont bother mate....stick with your hybrids if they are working fine....im sure I will get shot down by everyone for saying that. Just maximise what you have there already, ie extra cooling, proper ducting of your FMIC, brakes, suspension inc bushings, joints etc and upgrading parts that are now getting old

If i was to get hold of a BL t61 or T67 tubby, baring in mind the mod's i have already what doyou think the cost would be for fitting and extra things needed?

Look at JamieP's build in "Project Cars" section. He has all the prices listed so just add up the parts you don't have...

you could just about get away with a stock stall torque converter on the T61 but you wont get the best out of it, a T67 would definately need a Hi stall otherwise it would be lag monster, budget about £600-800 for the hi-stall purchased and fitted, your auto box needs to be in good nic as well or the single will soon show up any deficiencys

Here's a link to my GT35R conversion from Nic. Still awaiting parts but once I get them you'll know more. You can see from the first post how much I've spent...

I'm going to do a manual conversion too, as the auto/tiptronic box won't last long at that power and the ECU choices get tricky with VVTI and auto...
