tooquicktostop
Just talking about this with one of the chefs here as it features in several catering publications this week, Lions being farmed for consumption, seems one of the more odd food items of late http://www.wildlifeextra.com/go/news/lion-meat628.html

Charlotte
Lions? That's soooo last year. They were feeding tigers to visitors at the tiger reserve in China a few years ago.
MarkR
Giraffe is great but a definite no to Lion...
Ark
I'll give most meats a go - Kangaroo is delicious. Alligator just tastes like mud. Didn't really like the texture of boar. Cooked animal muscles taste delicious
Snooze
Can anyone who says they wouldn't eat lion meat explain a specific reason why, or is it just an instinctive feeling? I don't think I'd have a problem eating lion. Then again, like Ark, I probably wouldn't have a problem eating most things. I find saying things like "I would eat chicken, but eating dog is wrong", for example seems quite hypocritical. Obviously, endangered species and factors like that are good reasons, but I'm guessing the species of lions that they're referring to aren't endangered (yet?). tbourner
It's only meat. Don't see why we don't send criminals off to the abertoir TBH.

tooquicktostop
It is an interesting subject is it not, after all its just meat at the end of the day and it was reared for this purpose, I remember seeing large pieces of whale while visiting the fish markets in Tokyo and the out cry this causes across the world but a whale feeds A LOT of people
michael
Can anyone who says they wouldn't eat lion meat explain a specific reason why, or is it just an instinctive feeling? Just a personal feeling I guess - I'd eat farmed human but wouldn't choose to eat Lion for some reason, oddly I wouldn't eat a primate either which goes against the human thing to some degree. Probably your natural hatred for the human species, it's hard to hate other animals cos they don't generally do anything to upset us. Possible I suppose but then I don't hate lambs and cows etc - they taste too nice to be negative about them I do have a strong dislike of most humans though.
