Guest joph
Hi all, I was just wondering if I could get any pros or cons between a Twin Turbo Supra, Automatic or Manual? I have never owned a Supra before and will be getting one at some point, but need to know if its best to get an Auto (ie two hands on the steering wheel) or Manual (one hand) Advice appreciated. cheers Joph
jamesmark
Been done to death on here. The search button is your friend. Here is a starter, one of many dozen threads asking the exact same thing http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=158351 but need to know if its best to get an Auto (ie two hands on the steering wheel) or Manual (one hand) Good grief, what a worrying question. AndyT
Auto is easier to find and cheaper. Also, it's a very good box. Manual is the option which will retain more resell kudos and is the preferred option if you want to track or drag. Up to you and good luck bud. jamesmark
Manual is the option......and is the preferred option if you want to track or drag. Really? I was under the impression auto's made the best drag cars?
Gordon F
Getrag 6 speed boxes, whilst very strong, can also be stiff and notchy, features exaggerated by poor servicing timescales or using the wrong grade of gearbox oil. The stock clutch is too heavy (IMO) and the dual mass flywheel is prone to rattling. Which is why I bought an auto
Guest joph
Cheers guys thanks for your help, still undecided, think I may have to test drive both to make a decision. (auto is swinging it at the moment). Joph
hadyn
Auto for daily driving and dragging upto BPU levels. Manual for track work, big power (box can handle upto 1000bhp?) and driver involvement. I thought I could never drive an Auto sports car until I tried the Supra auto. It really is a good autobox
Jim_1979
the autobix can take a bit of power too. U just need to ensure sufficient cooling.
hadyn
Autobox can take it upto 500bhp just about. Wouldnt want to run more than 420 ish bhp through it myself
ds2000
Just bought an auto and whilst I think it is a good box - I really do think it'll be getting binned off veryt shortly, hand on heart I think its a little uninvolving
