Stevo
Hi all, After a bit of discussion with Nick (Clarkmagpie), the route for this year's Lakes run is as shown in the google maps link below: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&saddr=CA11+8SG&daddr=A686+%4054.973694,+-2.234781+to:A591+%4054.715960,+-3.241720+to:A591+%4054.555710,+-3.057920+to:A591%2FRydal+Rd+%4054.434570,+-2.965280+to:Kirkstone+Pass+%4054.442415,+-2.944776+to:A592%2FKirkstone+Pass+%4054.464764,+-2.925240+to:54.687328,-2.773361+to:A6+%4054.701188,+-2.770818&hl=en&geocode=18319762993933992375,54.973694,-2.234781%3B6093466006583469023,54.715960,-3.241720%3B10858185346855666184,54.555710,-3.057920%3B9814577933980517369,54.434570,-2.965280%3B17286983735602870063,54.442415,-2.944776%3B174069585852910465,54.464764,-2.925240%3B9711362096362832353,54.701188,-2.770818&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=7&sz=11&via=1,2,3,4,5,6,7&sll=54.680977,-2.677917&sspn=0.18459,0.439453&ie=UTF8&ll=54.723034,-2.719116&spn=0.737589,1.757813&z=9 As last year's event/route organised by AJI was so good, 90% is the same. The only addition is an extra little loop at the bottom so that some more of the lakes are taken in (Thirlmere, Grassmere, Rydal and more of Ullswater). However, the main reason for this is that from the Southern most point (Ambleside) we can head back to Ullswater via the Kirkstone Pass Kirkstone is the highest pass in the lakes but is also one of the more accessible with decent roads. The link below has more information: http://www.rural-roads.co.uk/lakes/otherlakes.shtml This is also now in the calendar, so please RSVP here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2008-9-7&e=669&c=1 Nick will be sorting out some further details re. meeting up times etc and this thread will be updated accordingly.
