Guest jokkan
Hello, I got a big problem. When I reach 2000rpm, my supra begins to stumble, ( hack or whatever word that fits in, I guess you get the picture) when I reach 2000rpm. If I try to speed up even more when it starts to stumble, the speed wont increase. My enginelamp shows code 13: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=13920&d=1112558346 Anyone have a clue? I have changed crankshaft sensor, ECU and I know my camshaft postion sensors works! /jokkan
spartan
Have you checked the condition of your timing belt, tensioner and crank/cam pulleys? Edited August 12, 2008 by spartan (see edit history)
Guest jokkan
My timing belt is new and crank/cam pulleys works. I forgot to write that my engine is newly built!
spartan
OK. If you're happy with all the components and sensors (and assuming the cams have been timed-up properly) then perhaps there is a problem with the wiring somewhere between the engine and ECU. Can you check for signals or even just continuity?
bignum
is your car j-spec or export model?
Chris Wilson
I would suspect the star wheel (the crank trigger disc) is loose on the back of the cam belt pulley, it was probably damaged when the engine was rebuilt. it's easily done. I stitch weld them on when I do an engine build. If the code is to be believed, the crank position sensor is new, and the wiring, connectors and plugs at both sensor and ecu end are perfect I think I would look there. Chris Wilson
Yes, (and BTW, I will answer your e-mail this evening), the star wheel can come off the back of the cogged crank belt cam wheel, and it's not an uncommon problem. The disc to the right is just a belt guide and has no effect on the ecu sensor.
Guest jokkan
Thanks for the advise about the star wheel. I will check it tomorrow. My car is -94 J-spec!
