supra_si
Hey guys my active spoiler only deploys at speed, are there any fuses or anything specific to it being dropped manually?
Lukeyboy2k
Hey guys my active spoiler only deploys at speed, are there any fuses or anything specific to it being dropped manually? Isn't it supposed to be like that? If you want to deploy it manually with the button the engine must be off but the ignition still turned on (if that makes sense) IIRC. That's normal operation yes (deploys above 60MPH), but you can wire up a relay somehow so that you can deploy manually on the move. No idea how. JohnnyW
Here's the circuit diagram on how to wire it up to work manually: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.betts/supra/TechTips/spoiler6.gif There is a lot of info on the active spoiler on that site: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/peter.betts/supra/TechTips/Spoiler.htm
supra_si
yeh mine wont deploy just standing still with engine off, was wondering if there was a different fuse that may have stopped mine working like that.

TTRickeh
Mine's the same, always comes on at 60 but 9 times out of 10 wont come down with engine off & ignition on. Wouldn't mind a manual control but i'm not very electrically minded so would be too much of a hassle really.
Guest Garfy
when I finally get it sorted I will be able to sell a box of tricks that will allow you to manually operate your spoiler engine running or not, I just need to get the time to do it. hadyn
You can control when the spoiler drops manually by buying a Blitz Active Spoiler Controller (a bit rare). This still retains the auto dropdown at 60mph but also allows you to drop the spoiler when moving at any speed using the stock button. It is a bit weird why toyota never allowed you to drop it manually....but there you go.

My controller will be similar to that, but the auto drop won't work, it will also be much cheaper than the Blitz one was.

Guest Garfy
You still doing this Garfy? yes I still intend to, but I'm being lazy at the moment if I'm honest, I'm gonna contact Andrew again (test car) and get his done for him, as he must have been waiting for around a year now. the thing that is taking the time is getting it into a package that is easy for people to install themselves, I'm almost there. if you want I could do yours for you after having done Andrews? can't do it this weekend though as I've got to change the petrol tank on the MX5, which looks like its a rear subframe out job, nice!!!! AndrewOW
My controller will be similar to that, but the auto drop won't work, it will also be much cheaper than the Blitz one was. And I'd very much like to say, that it works perfectly After a bit of fiddling about to get it right, I can control when I want the spoiler to come down, and go back up again (speed bumps etc). It doesn't automatically deploy at speed now, but as I'm controlling it, it doesn't really matter IMO. It deploys using the 'DOWN' button, and retracts using the 'AUTO OFF' button. Easy peasy. Many thanks Garfy. A very cool little mod.

AndrewOW
Ooh that's what I want! Hope Garfy can still make it happen Well if you ask him nicely, and be prepared to travel to his place in Sussex, then maybe he can sort it out for you. He was going to supply a kit, but as every car is slightly different (ie., my clock replaced for a boost gauge etc), he would prefer to do it himself, just to make sure it all works. It is great though
Guest Garfy
As Andrew says, I'm not really happy to sell it as a DIY box, mainly because I think most people would struggle to instal it, and I dont really want loads of people complaining about it. But, if your willing to travel to my house I will supply and fit it for you, that way you know exactly what has been done, and will be safe in the knowledge that everything is 100% reversable, no wires are cut or removed. Hogmaw, if your interested drop me a pm, I'll be happy to help
