geoffvalenti
Being that no-one else has answered your question, I'll ad my 2p I don't know if there is a difference in the springs between UK and J-Spec, (I can't imagine that there would be much, I'd have thought that the difference in ride quality would be down to the shocks, maybe CW or Dude etc. can give a definitive answer) but certainly yellow Bilsteins worked wonders with my car. Personally I'd take the chance and go for it
Terminator
I think most people who uprate the suspension ditch the UK springs as they are part of a softer package.
paul mac
heres my 2p worth as well, i use konis and stock springs and they work great, i have the konis on setting 2 and for me thats as hard on the fillings as i want to get, the good thing with the konis is it has two settings for the spring length do the billie have this ? or are you not bothered about dropping the suspension
RICHARDA
Thanks for the feedback fellas. I don't really want to drop the car. Just stiffen it up a bit, as the OE shocks are 80k old I thought I might try the yellow billies with my OE springs. Did the UK cars come with the option of yellow billies? If so I wonder if they would have used the same springs anyway? Ta Rich
Terminator
I thought it was a completely different package on the UK different shocks and different springs. One way to go for a slightly firmer ride with no ride height difference was to put JDM springs on the UK shocks
koolance
use Yellow Bilsteins With Eibach Springs one of the best comb avail
normore1
The Supra (UK Spec) used Tokico shocks as stock on the TT. Same on the US and European models. I do not know about J-spec. Koni's were not an option on the UK spec. To my knowledge, the TT did not have any suspension options. However, the spring rates on the 1993 thru 1996 models were supposedly stiffer than the later years.
RICHARDA
Term Do you think I am going the wrong way about sorting the UK handling by combining the billies with the UK springs? JDM springs with my standard OE UK shocks is a better bet? Ta Rich
Terminator
I am sure the Bilsteins will improve things, I just feel the car responds so much better with a stiff spring and better damper. If you have the time you might try some JDM springs on your shocks, but at 70K your shocks may be tired. Some people find the Eibach Bilstein combo very hard espicially coming from UK suspension. Personally I think is just right but I have all my own teeth;). If I have still got my springs you can try them.
RICHARDA
Thanks for your help Term, I will try the yelllow billies first, as I can't afford the drop that the Eibachs seem to give as my front wheels are 30mm offset and 8.5" wide they may well foul the wheel arch. What I need to find out first is if the standard JDM springs are the same as standard UK springs - anyone? (Thanks for your offer BTW) Ta Rich
