Jamesy W
I remember my Clio, I snapped the timing belt, so me and my mate pushed it to the top of a hill so I could bump start it, We tried it about 20 times up and down like a yo-yo, the valves were as bent as Christopher Biggins by the time I got it home

edge
Never had a french car and dont want one. Ive owned vauxhalls and fords and drive a new ford connect and hate them with a passion. Jap or german all the way.
Tannhauser
Funny this should come up. I've just driven through France and Spain in our 14 year old Citroen ZX. 3600 miles in nine days in boiling heat - no problems. We were only discussing yesterday how it's by far the most reliable car either of us has ever had.
Mike M
Used to love my GTI6 but the electrics rotted and it had a nasty habit of breaking front springs and sending them through the tyre wall. G/f's clio is a 'V' plate RSI with 160k on the clock and it just refuses to die. Although she came home early this morning with it running on two cylinders(no Joke) two coil packs failed instantly lucky i keep spares.
Mike M
I believe renaults timing belt change schedule is tight, i know someone who decided to leave their 1.2 clio for a few thousand mile longer and it snapped.
supra_si
yeh well my missus doesnt understand the meaning of servicing the car every year and checking the timing belt. ive been quoted 350 quid for a new engine delivered so just looking at garages who will undertake fitting it for me, how much labour is involved in an engine swap bearing in mind this is a piddly little 1.4 16v jobby in a big engine bay

Renault manuals quote 5 hrs for the belt change on the RSI. 350's a good price btw.
supra_si
5 hours for a belt change. the rsi clio is quite tight an ex of mine had one, this 1.4 is in the megane and is quite roomy, im thinking if getting the belt done on the new one if thats the route i take, the garage told me to scrap it and get 100 quid for it. i think hes trying to make money out of me scrapping it.
