ipod question

I have owned an ipod for almost 3 years (60GB), it has over 14,000 songs on it and I have been very happy with the thing, I have the 14K of songs on my itunes also, I purchsed an ipod NANO for my 8year old last week and pluged it into my PC, it asked if I wanted to download the latest itunes, which i did as always and when it found the new ipod my itunes was empty !!, I still have the 14K of songs on my ipod classic but it just wants to sync the new empty itunes to that as well, I would loose all the music then ??

I have seen a few sites that will 'copy' your ipod content but they all charge, anyone have any ideas what i can do to get the itunes populated again :)

This could be of some help, not entirely sure what the actual issue is tho.

If the songs are still on you computer somewhere then pointing itunes to the folder where they are should repopulate its library.

The songs were in my itunes, that is now empty, the music only exists on the ipod at the moment

Then that site has a list of programmes which should help you transfer it back onto your itunes. There is a free one near the bottom i would try that one first.

Just as a test tho, search on you computer using windows search for one song and see if they are still on the computer somewhere and just not being recognised by the itunes library.

That's going to be the easiest option, just check after to see if you have two Itunes catalog taking up twice the space required.

Stange as we have two Ipods running off the same Itunes database, didn't have any issues as all.

PS. how's the car now?
